The suggested current annual Wage bill of £80m is way over the top.

A 10% increase on the £61m reported in the last set of accounts (so in the region of £67m) will be far more realistic.

Along with Huddersfield and Brighton we would remain in the bottom three in terms of total Wages to June'18.

Since the last accounts we have had some sizeable increases.
Those last accounts will not have had a full years impact for the likes of Defour, Brady and Hendrick. Since then we have signed Wood, Lennon, Cork, Walters, Bardsley, Wells, Taylor, etc.
We have also given much improved contracts to a number of players - Pope, Tarks and others. Plus Dyche on top.

We have only really lost Keane and Grays wages in that 12 month period.

If all that equates to only a £6m increase I would be amazed. Conservatively I think we are at £75m but no surprise if at £80m. And I still think this keeps us in bottom 5 clubs total salary bill.

If we are in the bottom 5 then that is a big worry and a big problem in the long term. That means we would not only be paying higher wages than Huddersfield and Brighton (understandable) but a couple of others (which is unsustainable).

It was a £3.5m basic per annum that was reported. So roughly £67k a week before bonuses.

Under the PL cost control measures, I don't think we're allowed to increase the player wage bill past £67m for the 17/18 season.

Really ? On what basis ?

Would be good to see how with the players I have quoted plus Dyche’s increased salary plus the expected performance bonuses for finishing 7th how that could equate to only a £6m increase.

It only talks about players' wages so Dyche's will be excluded. The £61m in the accounts will include all non-playing staff as well so there is scope for a bigger total wage bill.

No point in getting annoyed about the money now. It's the same for every club, not just us.
I'm not saying we should pay £80k a week, but if we wanted to stay a 7th position Premier League team, that figure would be right, if not higher.

In the way we all say 'In Dyche we trust' these are the times for 'In the board we trust' - and I don't think there's that many clubs' fans who can say that.

For what it's worth, I really hope he stays, big money or not.

The rules are a bit unclear whether, for teams promoted since 2012/13, £67m is the current base or £74m (£67m + the permitted £7m) is.

I also would hope that revenue is increasing in other areas such as shirt deals, sponsorship, etc which would also fund an increase.

If our wage bill is 65,000,000 then dividing that between a first team squad of 25 plus the manager leaves an average of £48,000 per week.

I know it's fag packet maths, not all players are paid equally and I haven't included back room staff - but next season should see us paying wages of £50,000-60,000 a week to our main men.

I was told yesterday that talks are still ongoing, but could drag on, as these things do.

I would imagine that 65 million is split about 150 ways...the club is a big employer these days.

The club is a big employer, I agree, but the little fish don't earn a lot - even employing 50 folk on 20k a year is only a million quid on the wage bill so it's negligible in terms of fag packet maths.

At least we're not adopting the Peter Ridsdale / Leeds Utd method of negotiating contracts...
Mee's agent : We won't sign for less than 80k
PR/LU : Errr how bout 110k then ?

A quick scan of our squad list has 27 senior pros, 12 development and 24 youths. With all the coaches, scouts, fitness and science guys that work alongside these players that will be a hefty sum. They are not all on peanuts.

The story going round was on the drive up his agent said we won't accept anything less than 20grand, they went into the meeting and they were offered 50 grand straight away.
