Clarets Player auto renewal
Just had an email informing me that my subscription will be auto renewing
The email confirms its £42 a year which probably represented fair value with all the videos and replays etc. but in the email it says the following;
From the start of the 2018/19 Season, ALL video on Clarets Player HD will be free but your Season Pass subscription will get you exclusive access to our live audio commentary for every single first team game!
Just thought I would share as I will now be cancelling if all the video content is free - not paying £42 for commentary.

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
Depends where you are in the world. Although £42 for less paid for content isn't great, on 9 out of 10 occasions watching Burnley games the stream freezes and I have to resort to Clarets Player for my live action.
Clarets Player commentary has it's faults, namely it's TV style commentary for an audio audience(and as a consequence only a small percentage of the action is verbally described), but when you're desperate for live match action then the £42 a year doesn't even come into consideration

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
Ive had a similar e-mail don't listen to live commentary only watch the videos if we don't lose - if its going to be free then its a waste of money for me.
Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
I’ve cancelled mine. Only had it for the videos, never use the live commentary. £42 saved for the same content, happy days!sixtiesclaret wrote:Ive had a similar e-mail don't listen to live commentary only watch the videos if we don't lose - if its going to be free then its a waste of money for me.

I'm considering not renewing this time. Don't think it offers the same value if all of the video content is going to be free. Also, haven't liked the platform and service since they switched media providers or whatever at the end of last season. Didn't they offer a mobile app in the past? I didn't have one last season.
Edit - Have emailed them to cancel auto renewal while I make up my mind.

had my confirmation it has been cancelled.
Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
There is a Clarets Player app that I used all last season. Supports videos and live commentary as well as having the written stories.IndigoLake wrote:I'm considering not renewing this time. I think the point is that much of the content will be free so you'll be paying the same for less.k90bfc wrote:Worth every penny, cant fault it,well satisfied!UTC.

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
I’ve been asking the club for 3 years to make this change to online content. Glad they’ve finally listened.
Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
The commentary is unlistenable, both on content and also technically. Why they haven't worked out to set the volume at such a level that it doesn't distort when some action happens, I don't know.
I'm a subscriber for the highlights, I'll be cancelling if all that will be free.

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
I enjoyed Justice Bird's commentary and think he does Burnley proud. However, given I am at the home matches and half the away matches with a Firestick to fill the gaps, my subscription is cancelled.
Thanks- in the past, most valuable service.

Can’t imagine this will be a popular opinion but totally agree. You have to guess sometimes whether we’ve scored or not!Walton wrote:The commentary is unlistenable, both on content and also technically. Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
It's been very good and worth every penny over the last 5 years that I've had it.
A lot of the content this season has been finding its way on to youtube, so it was looking like it was only going to go one way.
Like Ian, there's not much need for it now for me either.
Well done Burnley, for making it free to the masses.

I can't see the point of renewing if the content is free so cancelling now

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
I’m sure the club will have anticipated that the “locals” won’t want to be paying £42 for what would basically be radio commentary
Or have they?
Or have they?

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
It's allright, under £4 a month and the commentary can be a bit of a laugh (Allastair Campbell excluded)
Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
Worth the money for the commentary on every game, you cant expect everything for nothing, not even a pound a week!UTC.

Re: Clarets Player auto renewal
I've subscribed for years and had very few problems, those I did have were normally beyond the control of the Club. I'm living back in the area now so don't really need it if the video content is going to be free to view. I've sent an email to cancel as well, thanks for the heads up as my info is in a disused email account.
