Lancashire League Cricket T20 tonight

Post by Dressinggown » Fri Jun 08, 2018 9:36 pm

Lowerhouse entertained Nelson this evening in front of a bumper crowd.

There are many critics of the shortest form of the game but there were loads of people just enjoying a Friday night with their mates in the sun.

Nobody does it better, Burnley’s biggest beer garden, Fact! I’d encourage anyone who fancy’s a few beers knowing the kids are safe to play in the sun to get down one Friday

Lowerhouse won by 7 wickets.

Nelson 117 all out with a few balls to spare. House made the target with about 4 overs to spare.

Very large crowd. I turned up at 5.50 expecting to sit where i usually sit and the place was rocking then with barely a seat to be had all around the ground. Largest crowd i have seen since the T20 final several years ago.

Colne were mighty, but Burnley were (unfortunately) mightier. Full details in tomorrow's matchday scorecard! Burnley 176-7, Colne 129-5. Might have been better if we hadn't dropped their pro (absolute dolly chance) on 10; he made 64 before being out in the tenth over.

And just to add on Sunday Lowerhouse play league rivals Rochdale in the LCB Cup 2nd round. As a thank you for everybody’s support over the last few years on the T20 nights and at last seasons LCB cup final at Old Trafford the club in agreement with Rochdale are offering free entry to all for this fixture.Looking at the weather forecast and with a great game in prospect get yourselves down it will be a great day out and everybody is welcome.

Burnley pro scored 19 after opening the batting with Qasim Shah. Interesting opening partnership too. They put on 65 with Shah first out for 64 from 28 deliveries.

An excellent evening out at The 'Ouse, with a comfortable win and a live band after the game. As said above there WERE a lot there watching and a great atmosphere. I know the T20s pull decent crowds at all the grounds in the league, but surely nobody gets as many on as Lowerhouse.

That scorecard has changed since this morning - they had Shah with the 64 and the pro with 19. That LL site is nowhere near as good or reliable as it once was.

I've got to back Mr Stockley up on this one - running a club site alone is a master task. Technology hasn't made it easier for him. The results used to be on so quick as he rang round every ground and copied the scorecard (after he'd written it down and transferred it onto his system). Now there are 24 teams, that'd be an impossible task. Not to mention Radio Lancs used to report on every game too.

He puts the scorecards on as soon as they've been uploaded to PlayCricket by the teams scorers (which sometimes aren't even done live and are put on after the match).

Burnley Express and LET just copy our/his write ups and take the photos off our sites, instead of sending reporters to games.

I can appreciate that it's more difficult. Up to, and including, 2016, it was fine. I would think that clubs need to help more because it may well have become a too difficult task for him with all the clubs. And gone are the days when you could go to Burnley or Lowerhouse and see the local press from both local papers. There was a time when the sports pages of the Burnley Express in the summer headlined with the Lancs League when often there was no mention of the football club.

I just think with PlayCricket and the one used last season, it's has brought about a lesser LL website. It was certainly no criticism of the site editor.
