From what I can see I would suggest that the North Koreans have played a blinder. Let’s just be thankful for the prospect of peace.

I completely agree, though Trump appears to have forgotten to tell South Korea that he was agreeing to cancel their joint military exercise.

Things To Do
1. Address Congress
2. Remember to be President
3. Meet with Kim
4. Feed Melania
5. Cancel Joint Military Exercise with South Koreans
etc etc

One’s view on how good the agreement is depends on how strongly you believe North Korea will adhere to it. Personally, I’m not totally convinced as yet; IMO, it depends on China backing it and keeping Kim in his box.

I think Kim will want out of that box asap and he will be desperate to make it happen.
Singapore was a great place for the summit, as it's basically a successful Communist state like NK aspires to be. It would have opened his eyes to a success story. I'll bet he can picture the first Sands casino, McDonald's and Trump hotel opening in Pyongyang already!
He was loving his wander round yesterday.

Cuba was being oppressed by America for no other reason than they were communist. Obama worked to end that oppression.ebby wrote:No difference when Obama went to Cuba.
Cuba also had and has a world class health care system, and didn't have concentration camps.
Frankly it's ridiculous you'd even attempt to compare the two.

They didn;t have concentration camps, sure, so we can totally ignore that they carried out somewhere between 5000 and 15,000 political executions since the revolution, as well as forced thousands of people into labour camps and operated a regime so terrible that 1.2 MILLION people fled as refugees.

Did I say we can totally ignore it? There was a lot wrong with Cuba, and there still is, but they're nothing like NK who starves it's own people deliberately. If you want to talk about bias then look at how the right reacted to Obama visiting Cuba and how they're reacting to Trump's meeting with Kim.
And its nice to see you getting concerned about refugees, finally.

I never criticised Obama over Cuba, not once. Just because some republicans and right wing personalities are hypocrites doesn't mean the feeling on the wider right equates to that concensus.Imploding Turtle wrote:Did I say we can totally ignore it? To quote a letter in yesterdays Telegraph:
If President Trump found Shergar, Madeline Mccann, The Arc of the Covenant and got Isreal & Iran to hold a joint street party, journalists would say he poluted the air with global warming because of his flights.
By contrast, if Obama had a cheeky meal for two at Nandos with his wife, the MSM would demand the Nobel Peace Prize.

Remember when Obama once wore a tan coloured suit and the right in America tried to make it a scandal? Or the time he saluted while holding a coffee in his hand?

Fun true fact: North Korea previously pledged denuclearization in 1985, 1992, 1994, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016. Each pledge was a lie.
