Car flags.

Post by exilecanada » Wed Jun 13, 2018 2:57 am

Just a couple of days to go before the WC starts and I’m seeing car flags starting to appear. In my neck of the woods (Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario) the predominant flag is German, not surprising considering this area is made up of descendants of German immigrants. I’m seeing a few Portuguese flags here and there, mine is the only England flag I’ve seen so far. :D

You get arrested for putting them up and proving you are English.

Why you putting paving stones on your car anyway? Not very aerodynamic surely?

Very funny! It took me a couple of seconds to catch on to your meaning, I guess my northern dialect is rusty!

I like to have a couple of flags on my car; one on each wing. That way I can feel like Erwin Rommel, in his Staff Car, speeding to meet the Führer.

Our neighbour always puts a couple on his car. I once asked him where they are made - he said Poundland.

Read a couple of days ago there has been a change in the law that you no longer need council permission to show a St George flag in public and you cannot be arrested for it, which crazily enough before you could.

You can be arrested for having flags on your car if the positioning and size of the flags make it a hazard and danger to drive.

Yet it's perfectly legal for a female to drive wearing a Burkha! No peripheral vision at all!! Unreal.

I'm going to wear a Burqa and have some car flags on at the same time. F*** the police!

The PC Brigade will be out in force if you put an England flag on your car, in England.

Surely you jest? What’s wrong with attaching a removable 18” x 10” flag to your car window channel??

I’m aware the PC police in UK has gone mad, but that is really over the top!!

Yesterday I saw a white Benz with a German flag decal covering the entire hood (bonnet)

Yeah, I was kidding, although some attention seeking people will pretend to be offended at some point.

A Danish guy I know around here once mentioned that he had seen every country's flag at the WC being displayed on various cars in the vicinity. The one he didn't recognise was the one with a big red cross on a white background. When I told him that it was England, he didn't believe me. He thought the Union Jack was the only flag in England. He didn't know that Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland also had their own flags.
