I’ve just watched the Iran v Portugal highlights and seen the Iran penalty for the first time. What a ridiculous decision. How is that deliberate handball? Why can’t the referee grow a pair and tell all those Mr McGoos in the VAR cubicle to F off? How can a panel of 4 FIFA referees, in consultation with each other, with time to spare and with a copy of the rule book to hand come to such a decision? Or have I misunderstood the rules?

Christ almighty! I’ve just seen the Saudi penalty decision. How the hell is that a foul?
What a bloody farce!
I’ve enjoyed this World Cup despite the efforts of FIFA to completely spoil the game.

So it’s 4 refs sitting watching the match on telly 1 on the pitch whose supposed to be in charge with 2 assistants...and they still can’t get it right, what next then? :D

There's only one way for them to get it right - post a query on 'Up The Clarets!' messageboard.

The correct decision would be made quicker than VAR is capable of.

It's obvious really. Let's have 2 refs on the pitch, an extra couple of assistants down the sides, get some more assistants with the magic wands behind the goals and have a second VAR studio who study the first VAR studio to make sure all is correct. It would work a treat, I'm sure :D :D :D

Next up: France v Denmak and Peru v Australia. Australia will give it a good go to try to qualify.

Australia stand a good chance of qualifying. Of course, they have to beat Peru and hope France beat Denmark, but both seem highly possible. Goal difference would also come into it but Australia have slight edge.

Did you see the first penalty Saudi got for handball? sure the ball his hand but I didn't understand how that could be deemed deliberate handball.

Great goal for Peru. 1-0 v Aussies. Their first attack. Completely against the run of play.

Out for most of the day but caught the last forty minutes of the France/Denmark game...the worst game I’ve seen so far and others by the sounds. Tonight’s game can’t be as bad hopefully.

World cup winners - Brazil. Its time they lift it or I will smack them to do it!

Runners up - Croatia - They are coming hard

Biggest shock - Argentina struggling to qualify the group.

Where England will finish - Quarter Finals

Englands best player - None

Golden boot winner - Cant really say, big time new talent.

Golden ball / best player winner - Neymar.

Best goalkeeper - Whoever brazil pick in goal.

Messi's first touch for that goal.

Similar to Andre Gray's.

The referee in the Nigeria/Argentina has a large red whistle. It’s disconcerting. It looks as if he’s about to send someone off.

If that's a penalty, the sport has gone mad. I thought it was about to get overturned by VAR, did he even use VAR? I guess the 4 studio referees agreed, not in a million years, Mascherano barely touched him, Balogun's momentum from leaning sent him over.

It has to be clear that the referee is wrong for VAR to correctly overturn his decision.

How can a player heading a ball onto his own arm in his own area even be considered a penalty?

Utter stupidity brought about by VAR!
