"Dawson is a target for a number of Premier League clubs and West Ham have seen an opening offer rejected, with Albion understood to be rating the 28-year-old at more than £20 million."
"West Brom are making changes to their recruitment structure after informing their technical consultant, Giuliano Terraneo, he will not be fully involved with transfer deals, amid suggestions of disagreements with players and rival clubs."
"Many Premier League clubs have been in contact with Terraneo over signing Albion players but have been left frustrated over valuations."
This is turning into something of a bizzare circus show. I'm beginning to feel a bit embarrassed for WBA.
If we wanted to receive ridiculous demands we could have gone to West Ham and enquired about Declan Rice.

I like the club in general , but their dealings in the transfer market when selling, to us anyway, are dreadful.
Let them stew in their own muck, the awkward b@stards.

£20m? Hahahaha. Tell 'em where to go and move on. Time we stopped ******* around with WBA. Not the first time they've acted the ****.

A long way from the £1.5m we almost paid for his services.

Deja Vu

If he does, then we can hope it is in line with sincere desire to depart this time and not just a bargaining chip for a new contract that will restore his wages to their PL level.
Even with a sincere request it might not stop WBA insisting on silly money for him. A Good player, but a club record fee for a player who will probably spend a lot of time on the bench if Mee stays is a bit much, especially when you take into account the comments made here about the importance of playing.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
We know there's no point in dealing with WBA. We've been through this before. They'll try to bleed every last penny from a transfer fee, which is their right, but it can mean you waste a lot of time trying to agree a fee that will just keep rising. Move on, let them stew and go back once the players have handed in transfer requests, because that's what Dawson and Jay need to do if they want a move. At that point our £25m won't look too bad.
I'd rather we shift our focus to Worrall at Forest. If we could get him for around £10m he'd be a good investment for us. From what I've seen of him, including being at the City Ground for a match last season, he looks to have excellent attributes for a CB of his age and Dyche could mould him into the next Keane or Tarky.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
I don't know how good Worrall is, but Forrest seem to be taking the same path as Wolves. Mendes is on board getting them Portuguese players on loan, players they couldn't afford to buy but somehow are willing to drop into the championship. Mendes must be making a fortune through all these deals, with probably a massive bonus to himself should promotion be achieved. Point is, if this is the case Worral might not be wanted anymore considering he ain't Portuguese.jlup1980 wrote:We know there's no point in dealing with WBA. We've been through this before. Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
If Mee was to leave, would Worrall be able to step up to this level - I doubt it
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
Yep would be a massive risk considering he has never played outside of the championship - and actually never played for a championship side who has had a half decent season. I can’t remember anyone raving about his performances last season either.jojomk1 wrote:If Mee was to leave, would Worrall be able to step up to this level - I doubt it
You could say Tarks at Brentford was similar - but we got him as an understudy for only £3m. Forest reportedly wanted £20m for him in January - which is ridiculous for what he has done.
If both Dawson and Worrall are going to cost £20m we should go for Dawson....or more probably look elsewhere as neither is worth that.

Unfortunately if West Ham are in for Dawson we won't be able to compete with them financially, unless he wants to move back to the north west.

Krbfc... I don’t post often but I read daily . Iv got to say if u didn’t mean to be negative this time fair enough . Your posts do almost always appear less than optimistic tho ... if u can’t enjoy this then I fear for you when the wheels of fate inevitably swing against us again and our only attacking threat / goalkeeper off the bench is mark monington! Stoke away is still surreal to this day ... but still can’t decide if it beats John Spicer at Luton lol
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
I don't understand why people think I don't enjoy it, I enjoy our rise as much as anyone other Burnley fan would. How was I possibly negative because I re posted what Nixon said about our transfer business, I think Cliff thought those were my thoughts and didn't understand my posts.Dano1bfc wrote:Krbfc... Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
Yeah the old "I've heard 3 players on the way, I can't say the names of the players, clubs they're from, the fee or my source"
But if they come in, I can....
I enjoy how many people on here, are the only person, that gets inside info from around 50 football teams acrosd the country.
Rule 1, if someone has said "don't mention it to anyone but we're getting A,B and C player from X club, but don't say anything as I'll get in trouble, then there's 2 answers.
1. They're talking bullsh1t
2. They've told the same thing to around 100 others to appear in the know.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
All this “I can’t reveal my source is ********. Just either say your source or don’t say anything. A 5 year old can make up a few players we could sign and that can be disguised as a source. The interest in Jay and Dawson is obviously alive but I’m sure there’s many other names on the list which could surface near the end of the window

Or a simple I've heard this player from X club.claretrobo1 wrote:All this “I can’t reveal my source is ********. Just either say your source or don’t say anything. I doubt youre the only person in the world who knows about a player enquiry or if it's further than that, and I very much doubt anyone will be hunting you down from your cryptic username that you've made up because you talk bo11ocks and want to keep your identity unknown...
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
I always take these sorts of comments with a pinch of salt and I never usually post anything about them but I feel like some on here are getting into a bit of a tizz over our dealings. I don't know the names of the players he mentioned, I laughed at him at the time actually, but I just thought I'd post it to try and negate this idea that we've only enquired about Jay Rod and Dawson! It's absolutely preposterous to suggest as much.
I'm merely pointing out that there are no doubt things happening that we have no idea about. My mate could be right, but let's be honest, he's most likely wrong! However, I'm pretty sure our Manager has come up with a list of new players that contains more than two names! Calm down folks, it's not even July yet!

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
Here here, even if we didn't sign anyone would it matter.
We will sign someone I'm sure, it'll take time, it won't satisfy every fan.
But whatever happens we will still be watching our team playing in Europe and the Premier League come August.

These windows do my head in!
What do we actually need (as opposed to want)?
A replacement for Ben Mee if he chooses not to sign a new deal.
A 4th choice central defender
Possibly a young winger.
Hopefully keep both of our excellent goalkeepers
That would do me nicely

The Ben Mee situation is hard to predict from the outside looking in,but however it works out we need another 4th choice central defender. A young left winger would be another good addition 21-26.
On top of that I would say that a back up for Jeff, who is also in his last year, is something we should be looking at.
Having only one player for the energetic CM/AM role, which was an important part of our tactical set up last season, means our strength in depth for that key position is non existent. My two picks have been snapped up so I don't know who we could look at next to fill that slot. Conor Hourihane isn't ideal, but the UK options that would fit into our price range are very limited.
A young attacking right back who can come in and work towards replacing Bardsley when he leaves would be a very welcome addition, but not one that is urgently needed.
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets make move for West Brom pair
I don't like the sound of someone "going on strike" to force a transfer. If it's true that Jay's up for coming back but won't force their hand by not turning up for training due to his recognition for the way WBA supported him (cf. Bong) then fair play to the lad.
