I've used shorter posts, two of one foot and two of two feet above the ground, with success, and of course it's cheaper then the longer posts. Their are two parts to this theory: firstly as the tree moves in the wind the stem is strengthened where it bends, that is, near its base; and secondly it is harder to vandalise, although I'm not so sure about that.

Longtimelurker has stopped lurking and posted some epics but as his posts are relevant I can live with them.

I find spice"s long posts well thought out and a worthy read. Meanwhile those of turtle, devil, beehole, kbrfc....

They are on my foe list but annoyingly cannot be avoided when someone quotes them

Count me out then.

Whilst others may deliberately ramble without making a point of substance, this seems a very shortsighted viewpoint of the originator and merely an expression of what he or she prefers. Some posters value the efforts of those who put time in to developing a thread, backed up with detail and a little more depth. Indeed, historically, posts in which there has been thought in the opening gambit, in my opinion, have produced threads that have been far longer lasting and containing a great deal less bickering.

Hmmm - bit divided on this one - I must admit at times I do give up with a thread if there are really long posts.

It seems like the majority of short posts are vitriol or derision directed at another individual for one reason or another. These annoy me WAY, WAY MORE than some well thought out reasoning or argument that may be anything up to article size in length.

Quality not quantity is best but if you get both in the same post - GREAT!

I think you've misunderstood the board rules. You don't have to read the long posts.
