World cup itv presenters/guests
just watched the football.
woman presenter
black woman guest.
2 other black male ex plyer guests.
Has it got so that your average white ex footballer is now getting squeezed out of this process on itv ?
political correctness gone mad if you ask me.
why not start throwing in some gays and lesbians and have done with it.
this country of ours needs to remember that its actually full of caucasian people and stop over representing different groups.
no problem with any group being fairly represented but its now gone silly.
will say that listening to a woman trying to do a motty just isnt right. its like putting pineapple juice in your whisky.
bbc now on and got a very balanced panel even though no female representative in the 3.

Wait till hee see that there a whole bunch of Latinos on the pitch. It's the lefty-liberal fascists trying to remove the white man from sport.

Instead of all the rubbish what's talked about pre match and half time I've always thought they should show looney toons shorts or classic pop videosPlus im sure it would cheer people up better than most of the 90 mins dross on offer

Really can't criticise them as they're all a blessed relief from having to listen to Hoddle commentating.

bbcs panel far more balanced and I think Lineker is very good as a front man.

Re: World cup itv presenters/guests
I agree with you somewhat, I don't enjoy listening to female commentators or pundits but I enjoy Ian Wright, so I'm not assed what colour skin the pundit has.

All you need to ask is would the OP have made this thread if the panel was Lineker, Shearer and Murphy?

It's Patrice Evra and Henrik Larsson, two of the greatest players of their generation. They're hardly token selections.

my point is that I believe itv are actually putting race and sex before whether an individual is actually the best person for the job.Rileybobs wrote:All you need to ask is would the OP have made this thread if the panel was Lineker, Shearer and Murphy?
they shouldnt be looking at skin colour or male or female. just get the best out there to do the job. the lunch time game panel was pathetic with both male guests very poor and argumentative. both neville brothers are great, as is ian wright and numerous other black or foreign players.
the whole line up just smacked of political corrctness gone mad.

Maybe if you provided some examples of their punditry that wasn't up to the required standard, your argument may hold a little more water.
Re: World cup itv presenters/guests
Evra is just a poor pundit
Ian Wright is annoyingly poor
Aluko is not great
Right....that’s the **** black ones
Dowie can’t speak proper
Sutton is a pr-ick
Roy Keane hates everything and everybody -he’s a pantomime cow.
That’s the **** honkies
Right now the brown ones
Fabregas...teeth too white
Etc

Who cares about proportions? That's the kind of thing that leads to all women and all BAME shortlists, which presumably the OP thinks is politically correct nonsense. Or is it just a problem if it's white males are underrepresented?basil6345789 wrote:Nobody said that, you twister. The point he made was the out of proprtioness.

in what way is it out of proportion? it was a panel of three people for one match. Why does a white man have to be involved every time? Does it upset you and the op that much?basil6345789 wrote:Nobody said that, you twister. The point he made was the out of proprtioness.

Clive Tyldsley spends the whole game trying to be a comedian. Well I have news for him, he IS a comedian and should leave football well alone. Bring back Martin Tyler.

let me intervene jimmy as it appears you are a bit thick.ClaretJimmy wrote:in what way is it out of proportion? it was a panel of three people for one match. Why does a white man have to be involved every time? Does it upset you and the op that much?
my point was that the itv are putting these people up as token gestures to make themselfs look pc.
note that they lumped them all together on a low profile game and left the brazil game to
a stronger line up that wouldnt upset their peak time viewing figures.
it is itv who are at fault here, not the people themselfs.
although this afternoons effort was cringeworthy. very poor guests with little input who
squabbled between themselfs.
the bbc effort with ferdinand and company a far far better effort.

Are you seriously claiming that Evra and Larrson were chosen because they're black rather than because they've got 187 caps and have been to five World Cups between them?

Aluko arguing the toss with laarson smacked of a woman wanting to wear the trousers.....it's gonna end bad in my opinion.

black female guest
both evra and larson
all 4 represented the minorities and combined made a cringeworthy show.
can say again if you didnt here the first 2 times.
Re: World cup itv presenters/guests
This can probably be cross-posted with the other punditry thread. England is around 3.5% black British according to the 2011 census, around half of which (it's reasonable to assume) is female. I'm not sure it's possible to represent to accurate 'proprtioness' (sic) 1.75% of the English population on a three-person panel in a such a way that doesn't involve a copious amount of gore, but here we are.

But on the later game they had five white males. Would it be okay if they swapped Evra and Larsson for Neville and Keane? Or is two black people on one broadcast still too much?claretnproud wrote:lady presenter
