Either way, criticising the club for taking the cheap option for building a new structure with straight edges is frankly idiotic.
Of course he’s making sense. If you rounded it from the back corners of each current stand the footprint would be much larger.

It’s no issue if it’s catering for our needs, but it would have looked better and given more space had we had a quadrant of sorts rather than a square.

Why not round the back off all the stands? Then we would have a round stadium and loads of space. Do we need the extra space that your suggestion would create? I expect we don’t, which is why the club isn’t paying for it.

More UTC gold, rounded vs. squared? I've got my piece (correct spelling) of paper out and can fit a square in a circle and can draw a circle bigger than a square.

Opinion or the opportunity to criticise the club? How many posters on this thread will actually use the new corner stands when they are finished (for the start of next season)?

Personally, I can't see how rounded or squared will affect my match day experience.

Have to agree with the comments made regarding the concourses in the "modern" 20 years old stands. In those 20 years nothing has changed apart from the posters in the toilets.

Oh and apparently the price of a twix.

You mean if we made it bigger it’d be bigger? Well duh!! If you made it square/rectangle from the back corners of each stand it’d be bigger still.

Surely if we used the back corners of eack stand it couldnt be a square or rectangle. The distance between the two front corners is far less than the distance betwenn the two back corners so at best it would just be a quadrilateral shape

All I meant was a right angles corner at the back.

You're assuming that the corner of the stand is as far out as the building can project, but the end and side walls could both be moved outwards. Why that particular, and somewhat unlikely, assumption?

Let's do triangles instead then, and that will be a more expensive option, and look sh1tter.

Get a piece of paper, draw a square (which will be the footprint of the stand) and round off the corner. You will see why you're wrong.

I can see the argument for a certain design. Garlick has already stated on record there are plans to redevelop the two stands if we stay up. One is surmising he's talking about the CFS and the Bob Lord. Makes sense to square if off if the designs for redevelopment of the Bob Lord in particular. Would also explain that weird scaffold 'look' outside the main entrance.

Does that also apply to rectangles though? As I'm sure it won't be a perfect square once finished.

Yep, round off a corner and you'll make the shape smaller. I think you probably know that after it was pointed out to you.

Maybe they were trying to stop the criticism of a soul-less bowl so are going for a soul-less rectangle of sorts?

Surely next step will be to fill in the other corners when the sort the bob lord stand out and make the cf and jh stand more corporate boxes

The Bob Lord stand would certainly look better if they did the other end to match the club shop and offices above.

I hope any corner stand does not conflict with the sight lines of spectators sat in it. We were debating a similar situation at Molineux in the stand opposite where the Burnley fans were sat.
Fans sat on the far right of that stand would struggle to see the entire pitch.

It's going to look quite different. On the red hot square/round debate, I'm more of a squared up, brutalist fan. Give me an Ibrox or Luigi Ferrari (Genoa) stadium over any of the identikit round 'bowls' you see now.

With regards to the screens, is there any indication where a second one would go if the first is on top of that corner?

On top of the Bob Lord would be good with the current flagpole moved and a 2nd added on the other side

As a side issue, having 2 corners closed up might actually improve the atmosphere, with the noise more likely to stay inside the stadium. Only a small thing, but I'm interested in how this plays out

Looks like some footings in between the Bob Lord/Jimmy Mac. stands, but the area between the Jimmy Mac/Longside stands looked like an abandoned archaeological dig .... there seemed to be 6 or 7 large pillars of Concrete, between 3 and 6 feet in height set into the ground possibly from when the original terraces were constructed/improved in the past, they certainly didn't look new...

The Bob Lord/Jimmy Mac corner will take priority I assume because the Police control box will be there, and without that functioning, I doubt we'd get a safety Certificate ? I'm no expert but I'd be very impressed if it's all complete by early September ... the memorial garden looks great and the sprucing up of the Bob Lord exterior is an obvious improvement ...

Has anyone got the number for Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS " Big Build " team ??? ;) ;)

Looks shorter than the old screen, maybe wider though?

Looks quite high up. Not sure the occupants of the Bob Lord will be able to tilt their head that high.
