On one hand I’m happy I can’t see the screen as those adverts are annoying during the game. I do wonder though whether the club actually mapped out the sight lines when planning the location?

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
I thought the new corner stand was looking good.
Those that can't see the screen will be able to see the second screen when it is installed next summer.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
It's probably impossible to have a single screen that everyone can see. That's why we are installing a second.Claretforever wrote:On one hand I’m happy I can’t see the screen as those adverts are annoying during the game. Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
On row P of Bob Lord you can see it. But starts to be obscured by roof any further back. Roll on a second screen above other disabled stand in south east corner. Maybe a new roof on Bob Lord long term?

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
im glad the sight lines have been mentioned. I sit in Block 2 JHU, I can see a poor angle of half the board, which means no one in JHU can see it either. It is such a stupid mistake to make. Another screen on the other new corner would solve it for us, but that is likely to be a long way off yet.
Really poor planning.

That's almost a third of the stand it's facing cant see it. A second screen in the same position on the other disabled stand wont solve that problem

Longside upper block 5, 4th row back. Could see almost the whole screen, probably 90% of it (just the left hand edge missing).

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Anyone know how the OTHER stand is going to be developed?
There's one difficulty - there's a huge floodlight right in the middle of the plot!

Thank you!
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Why are the screens positioned miles from folk and obscured to the many, who look from the far side of the ground, as it is meant for their eyes?
Why not have the new lightweight screens at the top of the stands, facing inwards, so we can get a good view?

Begs the question..What will they do when they want to change or upgrade the floodlights? They have done it twice in recent memory. Interesting.claretandy wrote:will be built around the floodlight.

Yes, we've only scored in 6 of our 8 home games this season.bfcjg wrote:You don't need to see the full screen, our bit will be nil

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
I don't think it'll be that difficult. The flood light is basically just a hallow post. All the technology is at the top.
If you look at the plans, the post isn't flush to the building or anything.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Just seen a photo on Facebook that appears to show the side wall of the JM Stand has been taken out in order to enable movement into the facility. Good use of the 29 day gap between home fixtures!

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Are there any new updates?
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Not the new stands but they've finally bricked up around the metal framework at the main Bob Lord stand entrance
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Interim payment to Barnfield stopped. The £250k owed goes to a rich guys pig trough.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Let me rephrase it. We have played 8 home games this season and scored in 6 of them - 4 against Bournemouth, 3 against Aberdeen, and 1 each against Istanbul, Olympiakos, Watford, and Huddesrfield. Nils against Man United and Chelsea.gawthorpe_view wrote:And four of them came in the same match.

I think the crow wood hotel should have odds slashed to be completed before the new disabled stands

I think by the fact the new episode of Turf More on the club site makes no mention what so ever of it tells you a but of a story as to how its progressing.

It’s progressing from what I’ve seen. Interior walls have been erected and concrete poured on the all the floors. It’s taking shape now.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
It's amazing how quickly things can progress once the building's structure is up and the roof is on !!
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Is there any noticeable building work in the other corner, apart from the undersoil heating machinery that was installed?claptrappers_union wrote:It’s progressing from what I’ve seen. Interior walls have been erected and concrete poured on the all the floors. It’s taking shape now.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
I had to go and get some tickets a couple of days ago so took a look round. Clearly a lot more work been done at the NE corner with a staircase in and work progressing on internal walls. Nothing but a big hole yet at the SE corner.Spijed wrote:Is there any noticeable building work in the other corner, apart from the undersoil heating machinery that was installed?

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
I had a look this morning, as Tony says there has been work on the NE corner stand but it still looks an awfully long way off being finished. As for the SE stand well I think if thats completed by Easter next year they will be doing well....
This project appears to have been a nightmare from start to.....was going to say finish but lets wait for that.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
From the official website (23 October 2018)
"The north east section of the Accessible Stadia facilities is due to be operational by the end of 2018, with the second phase, in the south east corner following early in 2019."
From what I have seen this week, I think this might be realistic, give or take a few weeks. I'm no expert though.

Like with all building projects these days there are unseen issues that can't be accounted for when you start digging up previous foundations. The Enclosure wrote:I had a look this morning, as Tony says there has been work on the NE corner stand but it still looks an awfully long way off being finished. As for the SE stand well I think if thats completed by Easter next year they will be doing well....

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Yes i fully appreciate that Spijed and agree with you...it just seems that its taken so long to resolve these issues.Assuming the responsibility lies with the main contractor Barnfield Construction they must be losing an absolute fortune on the project, unless they have passed the buck down the line to whoever did the initial ground survey.Spijed wrote:Like with all building projects these days there are unseen issues that can't be accounted for when you start digging up previous foundations.

Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
looks like they've added new angled support beams for the roof of the JH and JMc stands - assuming this is to get around blocking the view from adjacent stands
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Once the corner stands are finished are there any current plans to re-develop any other parts of the ground, such as the other end of the Bob Lord stand?
Re: Progress on the new corner stands?
Saw the new corner angled support beams for the 1st time on Saturday and by golly what a difference to the view of that Big screen for us in Block C JHU, and they will maintain the loadings etc for the roof.Sutton-Claret wrote:looks like they've added new angled support beams for the roof of the JH and JMc stands - assuming this is to get around blocking the view from adjacent stands
When they complete the other side (between JMU and the BL stand) are they putting another big screen up?
