Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I didn't realise how good he'd been for us until he left - I underestimated his quality. Will he get back to that level after the injury? Don't know. I also didn't get the feeling that he was the epitomy of team spirit in his last six months with us (when he'd clearly wanted to leave) so not sure whether coming back would be a great option for either party.

Colchester?! Jeez, how the mighty have fallen.
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Still annoys me that we accepted less for him from Liverpool than Spurs were prepared to pay.

I think he left us leaving a bad taste, or so I remember CT stating on a previous thread.
Consider it unlikely he'll return.

Agree completely, seemed to down tools pretty quickly, if he doesn't bottle the penalty against Leicester, who knows what would've happened that season.thatdberight wrote:I didn't realise how good he'd been for us until he left - I underestimated his quality. Nope. Wouldn’t be able to afford the wages and too injury prone. I think we can let a club with deeper pockets take the risk. Colchester perhaps

Well he should have been made to rot in the reserves then, see how he liked playing in the central league on a cold December night at the likes of Crewe and Oldham.dsr wrote:You don't get a choice with industrial tribunals. You get what you're given.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
He'd let his contract run down and not signed what we had offered him. He was perfectly allowed to not sign with any other club and walk out of the door. He could have signed, then got the injury he did but for us on a massive wage. At least we saw some money from the tribunal and by all accounts what would have been a troublesome influence in the dressing room (treatment room).Diesel wrote:Well he should have been made to rot in the reserves then, see how he liked playing in the central league on a cold December night at the likes of Crewe and Oldham.

Diesel you do realise his contract had expired? We revisit this quite a lot on here we didn’t accept the fee we went to a tribunal and they told us the fee. As he wasn’t prepared to sign a new contract with us as is his right, same as Scott Arfield this season.

Not sure where we're up to with the J Rod bid but showing an interest in Ings may help speed it up.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat.
A proper number 10, and would slot straight in.
I know, I know he's banged a few people's birds/daughters, but please, let's think of this purely for footballing reasons.
Danny Ings fits Burnley's style and need for a number 10 perfectly.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I had it on good authority that Dyche was not happy over charity event or something along those lines.
Around the time that Trippier & Ings left, Dyche asked both to help him out at this event. Kieran been Kieran said when and where, I'll be there not a problem Sean. Ings response, speak to my agent.
It was mentioned on here that after Spurs game, Dyche & Trip shook hands had a chat. After the Liverpool game, Dyche had nothing to do with Ings. He ain't coming back.

100% if and only if we were getting the player during the promotion season up until January in the PL. He’d be absolutely ideal.MACCA wrote:I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I didn’t suggest he left with a bad taste but was told he upset our manager with his contribution to the tribunal. It was hardly complimentary about Dyche or our club apparently. Only second hand information but others on the board have certainly heard similar to me.iluva64 wrote:I think he left us leaving a bad taste, or so I remember CT stating on a previous thread.

I was told there would never be a chance of him coming back.
Would we want him back? The Ings who left looked a very good player but we have improved significantly since whilst he has gone backwards, albeit because on injuries.
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I'm not sure he's worth the risk now. At least Jay has shown that he's recovered from his injury; I'm not sure the same can be said for Danny. That said, Klopp wants to keep him, and that says a lot. It will come down to how he left and whether SD feels he would fit the bill.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I get the impression that Dyche is a big enough man to welcome Danny back to the club if the opportunity unfolds and he believes he can improve our squad.
Having said that, I imagine Ings will be seeking larger wages than we are willing to pay and to go to a "bigger" club than ourselves.
Never say never though.
I'd be delighted to see him in a Burnley shirt again.

Find this story difficult to believe given that Ings is known for doing plenty of charitable stuff. If he didn’t support something I suspect he would have had good reason.NL Claret wrote:I had it on good authority that Dyche was not happy over charity event or something along those lines.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
I'd have him back, but not sure SD would.
He did appear to have his head turned that last 6 months with us. That aside he was a young lad, who gave us everything previously. Showed through his off field activities that he was well grounded and conscientious. Depending on how much they want, he would be a good alternative to Jay in that no10 slot, although not offer the option that Jay would on the wing. I think Danny has been fit for a while, just can't get the game time because of Salah and Firmino. No great surprise there.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
The thing is after Firmino, Liverpool have nobody of note. I wouldn’t look to deep into the Klopp wants him business. He hasn’t really got over the injuries and Sturidge hasn’t either.jlup1980 wrote:I'm not sure he's worth the risk now. Wages wouldn’t be a problem. He went to Liverpool on a high, hardly played any football whatsoever and can’t possibly expect to be paid what he his now.

Dyche went to shake hands with Tripps before the Spurs game. Ings wasn’t shown the same respect.

No thanks to many injuries and wouldn't pay the high wages he would be expecting.

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
He’ll go West Ham or Bournemouth
He will then have a really unlucky serious injury in a pre season friendly against Weston Supermare Rovers after looking very sharp in the first 20 minutes !
In all seriousness i’d have him back because I loved him as a player - I thought he was brilliant for us and the best forward we have had in many years. He also brought the very best out of Vokes and that season was the best football I think we have played under Dyche - albeit at a lower level than we are operating at now.
Ain’t got a clue if he is ever capable of recapturing that form with his injuries but if he was he would walk into our team.

Would he walk in though? This is not the team he left, his partnership with Vokes was in the Championship. He did well in the Premier League for us but we have moved on a long way since then.TVC15 wrote:He’ll go West Ham or Bournemouth

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Have to say though that I feel really sorry for him given the injuries he's had. Two knee ops at Burnley and another two at Liverpool, the first of them being the worst of the four. That's a hell of a lot in around a five year period.
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
The best of the Danny Ings in my opinion would walk into our side - we are talking about a player who got in an England squad. I know that his best form was in the Championship but he showed he could do it in the Premier League with performances like that at Old Trafford and we know his head was turned that season.ClaretTony wrote:Would he walk in though? After Trippier he is the best player I have seen in a Burnley shirt - and that includes the current squad.
But I do doubt he could recapture that form with the amount of serious injuries he has had now....and from that point of view alone I think it would be too big a risk for us to pay the high wages he would demand.
