Danny was great at the time, but life moves on,too many unknowns about his injuries, motivation, and any possible wages, not for me.

Liverpool Echo saying we are favourites to sign him. As stated earlier in the thread it's an easy link for the press to make.... But you never know.

Ings would definitely be worth a punt on a free. He must be fully fit otherwise Liverpool would not have offered him a new deal.
Get him signed Sean, he will be hungry to play. Danny and Jay Rod could lift us to a new level if their game time is managed correctly with our European campaign

Nope, that would be the clubs in the city he is leaving. Or Man United.

Good player but body not up to the rigours of modern football.

18 million pound striker resigned to the bench after one season?
Utter madness if we got both Ings and Jay-Rod.

Wood is far better than Ings and Jay Rod. If he hadn't been injured, he would have scored 18-20 goals this last season.

Oh I would say Mane is noteworthyDyched wrote:The thing is after Firmino, Liverpool have nobody of note. I wouldn’t look to deep into the Klopp wants him business. He hasn’t really got over the injuries and Sturidge hasn’t either.
Wages wouldn’t be a problem. He went to Liverpool on a high, hardly played any football whatsoever and can’t possibly expect to be paid what he his now.

So we play Ings when Wood is injured and Wood when Ings is injured, with Rodriguez and Austin on the bench for when they're both injured. But we'd better keep Barnes and Vokes for when they're all injured.LoveCurryPies wrote:Wood is far better than Ings and Jay Rod. Yeah I did but he gets a pass given the financial situation and the players we had, he was forced to use MIchael Duff upfront. I still think we played better football under Cotterill than under Dyche when Gray was here.Socrates wrote:I presume you didn’t watch us under Cotterill then?

Not as a central forward neither is Salah. Why would they move Mane/Salah to the middle when Firmino is out? You lose what their both great at and basically weakening the forward line in 2 places rather than 1Stayingup wrote:Oh I would say Mane is noteworthy

I would. He is a damn site better than that league and I am sure there will be someone in our league (possibly 4/5 teams) that would be seriously interested in taking a chance on him.Reecey1987 wrote:I know im just posting what i have seen . I wouldnt be suprised to see him ending up at rangers

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
What is pleasing to note is that he is making this decision for footballing matters only
Liverpool were prepared to offer him a new, extended contract (no doubt on good money which would have secured his future) but he has shown faith in his own ability to ask for this move and that has to be applauded
A small fee to Liverpool plus add-ons for appearances would be the way to go for me ( his own contract could be made up in a similar sort of way)

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Three years on Liverpool wages will have already secured his future. What's he earned - £5m after tax? If he hasn't already got a pension pot bigger than what few of us can dream of, then he's a fool.jojomk1 wrote:What is pleasing to note is that he is making this decision for footballing matters only

Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
Given his injury problems since he left (he seems to be the classic 'croc') I am uncertain as to exactly why we would be interested. Danny Ings of 4/5 years ago was fabulous and I would have that one back in a heartbeat, but the Danny Ings of 2018? Even at the relatively low figure of 5m I'm not so sure. Don't forget it's not just the 5m, he won't come back for peanuts and that's a lot of peanuts for someone who might hardly play. The medical would have to be very in-depth and serious. However let's see what the bold Mr Dyche decides (although as good as he is he's not a doctor or a physio).

Looked good in the limited minutes I saw him play for Liverpool this season and I have no doubt in my mind he would improve us in the number 10 role.KRBFC wrote:is he though? or are we still talking about the Danny Ings of 5 years ago in the 1 Championship season?

Some people would also call him a fool for not taking the option of a further contract on those wages (something which he is prepared to forgo)dsr wrote:Three years on Liverpool wages will have already secured his future. It's possible however I don't see how you can't have any doubt given his injury history and the limited number of minutes he's played since leaving us.Goobs wrote:Looked good in the limited minutes I saw him play for Liverpool this season and I have no doubt in my mind he would improve us in the number 10 role.

amazing how Jay Rod and Ings aren't good enough for us according to some on here. Jay has massively improved since leaving us and I would imagine Ings has got considerably better spending a season training in that Liverpool team with the movement they have. Both also have a point to prove and would be hungry - I'd like them both tbh

Absolutely I would agree with you that Danny still has the ambition in the game rather then be a reserve at Liverpool, which in this day and age is to his credit I would say.

Fair point but they have far more money than we do and they wouldn't have to pay a 5m fee, they can afford to take the risk. Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
If that is the asking fee for a young striker (26 in July) I would take the risk but I expect he will get a better deal elsewhere and likely back on the South Coast with Eddie
Re: Danny ings to leave liverpool
We were happy to pay £5m for Nahki Wells when he was injured and we've yet to see any potential on that outlayhouseboy wrote:Fair point but they have far more money than we do and they wouldn't have to pay a 5m fee, they can afford to take the risk. Nobody can argue that it would be a risk to sign Ings given his recent injury record but, nobody can also argue that he was the top man when playing with us
We have seen with our own eyes what he had in the locker 3 years ago and I would rather we take another punt (if given the chance with a minimal fee) than see him coming back to form at another club
