We had good sides in:
86.beaten by the little cheating twohat.
90. Lost in semis on pens.
96. Lost in semis on pens.
98. Lost on pens after Beckham was sent off.
02. Beaten by a fluke from Brazil
04. Lost on pens. After Rooney came off injured and Campbell had a “goal” ruled out.

Not much since to be fair. The era of the great Terry, Lampard, Gerrard triumvirate?

You make it sound like England actually had a chance in all those WCs

In 86, 90, 96, 98, 02 and 04 England could not score more goals than their opponents, irrespective of what else happened.

Put your red hand in your pocket. If you’re in it you have a chance to win it.

True. In 02 there were folks who started thinking Ireland had a chance

If this course is still running, it might help you out a bit.

Maybe follow it up with this? It could really complement the comedy? You'll get there one day.

It took two absolute failures in a row though for England to realise that and to rebuild.

Doesn't mean we are going to win anything anytime soon, but as least we are trying to win it without one hand tied behind our backs.
Not sure that is true now, half their team looked (and were) past it. They weren't the youngest side last time but they had their share of luck (as usual) then. Everyone remembers their demolition of Brazil but people seem to forget they had trouble getting past Algeria and but for some bad finishing from Argentina in the final their game would never have gone to extra time. Germany have not been 'great' for quite a while.

Or not taking a joke in the spirit it was made, highlighting your immense displeasure. But not actually letting it drop. So I'm bowing out on this one. You endless razor sharp retorts are too much for me to take, and I can see you really want to spin this one out. It seems that when there's nothing left to say. You're still saying it!

That's me done.

Over to you tiger! Give it large!

As long as we agree the joke fundamentally didn't make sense, that'll do for me.

We already killed off most of the "injuns", houseboy (although they're making a comeback. They have the highest birthrate, and the highest dependence on social welfare, of any ethnic group in Canada.) Besides, if anybody knows anything about the nastiness of Germans, it's the Danes. They still have two-fifths of our country.
