Obviously it's terrible whenever this happens but I'm really struggling to care any more. If the Americans are too thick/proud/stubborn to sort out their own problems then I'm losing sympathy.

ClaretMoffitt thinks there are only two sets of people in this world, liberals and right wingers. You’re right, it’s idiotic, but it must help him to simplify every single issue into one which is black and white.

If only they'd ban video games like the rest of the world does then maybe this wouldn't happen.

The unusual aspect to this shooting is the killer was a female, who then killed herself, motive unknown yet.
Mass shootings by women are rare, with more than 95% of such attacks in the US carried out by men.

It seems in the US the only motive you need for mass shootings is 'I've got a gun and I know how to use it.....look'.

I didn't know about this until today, I read an article on NBC news which closes with this :-

"The incident comes one day after a heavily armed employee opened fire in the offices of a software company in Middleton, Wisconsin, injuring four people. Also Wednesday, a man opened fire in a municipal building in Pennsylvania and shot four people, including a police officer, before another officer shot and killed him."

Its shocking that those events didn't even make it into the news over here. Its a typical day in the Land of Free.

Was is in the film Bowling for Columbine where they show that you can buy boxes of ammunition off the shelf at Walmart?

No wonder there are so many shootings over there, shoot first and ask questions later mentally

You can buy guns and ammo at Walmarts in Canada. Just much more difficult vetting process. Not quite the same 'good ol' boy' attitude, either. But getting more so. Look at our new premier, "Thug" Ford. (I don't want to.)

Pandering to his base. He doesn't care.

Nothing will ever be done about guns in your country while the Republicans have any sort of power to stop it. This became clear when after 20 six and seven year old children were slaughtered and not even a law requiring background checks could go through the Senate without Republicans blocking it from being voted on.

Police sources tell KDKA’s Andy Sheehan the gunman walked into the building and yelled, “All Jews must die.” Sheehan’s sources confirmed that eight people were dead. Others had been shot, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

I know what you mean. When they're victims of gun violence I have much less sympathy for a hardcore gun rights advocate than I do for a child, or someone who supports common sense gun control.

So a pedestrian killed in an RTA deserves little sympathy if they also happen to own a car.

Why? Most Americans happily arm themselves with weapons that are far too powerful.

Why do you think America is the worst country for gun violence in the Western world?

Stop guns and you stop that vast majority of deaths, yet many Americans simply won't give up their guns.

It's their choice, but if you live by the sword you die by the sword!

Cars aren't built to kill. That said if someone opposes pedestrianisation of an area that frequently experiences RTAs and then is victim of an RTA in that location then yes, they partly brought it on themselves by opposing a measure intended to help prevent RTAs in that location, and therefore they get less sympathy.

Before I reply to your incorrect comments, I want to make it clear that I do not support gun ownership nor do I own any type of firearm. However you state that `Most Americans happily arm themselves with weapons. Incorrect. The latest CNN polls show approx 30% of Americans own guns. Approx 42% live in homes that have guns.
You state that `America is the worst country for gun violence in The Western World. Wrong again. Many counties have far worse records the America according to Wikipeadia.

As i stated I do not support the right to bear arms.

Personally i have sympathy for for all of todays victims whatever their beliefs happen to be.

I'm pretty sure when he said "western world" he should have said "1st world countries", and if he had then yes, America has more gun violence than any other first world country.
According to Wikipedia only 10 countries have a higher rate of firearm-related deaths per 100,000 people per year (based on available data). Those are Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Jamaica, Guatemala, Swaziland, El Salvador, Venezuela and right at the top Honduras.

11.96 people per 100,000 per year. Put 100,000 Americans into Camp Nou (when did it stop being Nou Camp?) to watch a Barcelona game and by a year later about 12 of them would be killed by a gun. For a country that likes to claim itself to be the best in the world a lot that's ******* insane.

Yes, 158 would die of cancer therefore you shouldn't do a thing to prevent any other kind of deaths. Except Islamic terrorism. For that even smaller rate of deaths you gotta close your borders, create a database of Muslims and start a Muslim ban.

The cognitive dissonance in right-wing politics over there is amazing.
