If you buy privately make sure you have it damp proof tested. It's a must.
Our family have been through a court case recently and only won as they had adverts claiming it was 100% damp free.
We weren't given much chance of winning and a lot of hassle for 18 months.

Plenty of different styles so have a good look around until you find the perfect one.

Finally it will hold it's price or even go up in value the longer you have it, unless you go for the 50k brand new ones.

Todds at Preston are great, knocked some money off and fitted a reversing camera free of charge.

I bought mine new in May 2013 a Bailey 740se cost £41,500. We have had 6 summers of superb holidays and other travelling. I looked on Autotrader this morning and similar vans to mine were being marketed for just under 35k.

All vans should have a habitation service done annually by an approved NCC service engineer. The documentation includes damp readings ask to see each years report. Mine is damp free.

Nice one, do you have a link to a website or anything we can browse?
How far in advance would you need a booking and can I take it abroad to France?

Thanks

Along with caravans and HGVs, they are the cholesterol of the roads network. Hotels are the way forward and that's why there are so many of them.

Check out ribble valley caravans at Gisburn. They get some in. We got ours last summer and are off to France at the end of the month, it will either be great or a complete unmitigated disaster. I’ll let you know late August, there might be one for sale

I draw the line at emptying my own sh!t out of a flimsy structure designed to p!ss off normal motorists. There are other ways of showing you are cheap without inconveniencing everyone else. Happy holidays.

Motorhomes tend to keep up with the traffic and don't inconvenience other travelling folks ..Well mine does anyway.. :D ...As for caravans they are a Phookin nuisance on the roads..

Happy holidays indeed .. If emptying my own toilet means I can spend three months away for the price of two weeks in a noisy hotel I will take that.. Happy camping :D

Damp check is a great tip. Permanent repair usually needs new panels which can be thousands
Wheres dodgy patterned or worn out upholstery can bring down 2nd hand price by a lot but you can replace it for about 300 quid and it transforms a van.
Aires in the south of France right on the dunes/beach - 6 euros a night. Better than any 5 star

You must be the exception. I generally class them on a par with the three tonne horse boxes driven by 18 year-old lasses. They get under the feet, especially when being driven by a silver-haired 70 summat year old who usuallydrives a Nissan Micra. They are scared of the size so they drive them sloooooooow. They are a devil of a thing to see round as well.

15 grand we were quoted for the damp repairs, they had to take it apart to get to it.

They didn't seem overly keen on doing the job either as it would be very time consuming for them (two seperate specialist garages).

It's worth buying off forecourt so you have comeback if anything goes wrong. Unless you're a mechanic or know what you're doing.

Some drivers do not appreciate that caravan (+possibly motor homes) drivers have to drive at a slower speed than cars. Towing a caravan or in the motor homes we have hired you could drive up to any road speed limit that cars are travelling at.

Great offer MRG- hope someone takes it up with the great weather
