Re: England vs Columbo
I've come to the conclusion that Sterling is actually really thick , what else can explain how he continually runs down blind alleys and fails to find a team mate. Kane is the only one to have a football brain to go along with the talent.
I would love us to win, but our lack of a 'team', is going to cost us in the end.

Referee misses a CLEAR red card. WTF is VAR doing, if we still miss things like that? He moves down to nut his chin! It's a red card.

Jamie Vardy would love this sort of game. They'd be scared to death of him.

Re: England vs Columbo
We're not exactly firing on all cylinders. We're struggling to reach that final third and actually create chances. However, Colombia have been poor (how many passes have they put out of play?). This is winnable - hopefully Southgate can say some magic words at HT!
Find Sterling a very frustrating player. Very dangerous with his pace and love his effort but loses the ball a fair bit and has had a poor first touch on a few occasions. Still not convinced by Pickford either but thankfully he's not had too much to do.

Well we should be playing against 10 men. How can a referee give a yellow for a chin-butt! That is bizarre.IndigoLake wrote:We're not exactly firing on all cylinders. I agree with you about our chances though, we should be battering this heap of shite. They are awful! No better than Tunisia/Panam.
Re: England vs Columbo
We have possession but lack that killer pass. I agree about running Sterling and Ali.

Nobody has stood out though. We're all performing on a 6.5/10. But you can tell they don't like tricky players, and Vardy/Rashford are players who would annoy them.Vegas Claret wrote:Anyone would be better than Sterling

Yes, they're worse than I thought. I'd like to see us be a little more adventurous second half - don't fancy ET and penalties.FactualFrank wrote:Well we should be playing against 10 men. How can a referee give a yellow for a chin-butt! That is bizarre.

Re: England vs Columbo
Frustrating so far, Colombia clearly didn't come to play and looking to turn it into a rugby match.
Which means we'll have to take more risks in the second half and they'll make a breakaway and score

Re: England vs Columbo
Its funny on a Burnley fans forum that people expect it to be a roll over against a lesser team.

Re: England vs Columbo
There are no easy games on world football, even the so called minnows are fit, capable, and play to a plan.
At this level England players shouldn't need coaching, they get some of the best of that in their respective clubs, all they need is organising. Have a game plan, and stick to it. Instead we are a bunch of strangers again.
If we continue to play like that second half we will get picked off, and game over.
Sterling I would hook, but if he stays on he needs to stick to the bye line and let Alli make the late runs into the box. Rashford on for Lingard and stick to the other wing, unless we drag them out of the box we will struggle, especially with this ref.

Even their officials are fouling our players now, as Sterling goes off at HT he’s been shouldered by a Colombian official

Re: England vs Columbo
Playing into Columbian hands for the moment guys. These guys are just sitting back and England should be able to so more - three defensive CM's in a very conservative formation.
A braver approach is required, Sterling is non-existent and his left foot is very poor, Delle Alli is just plainly annoying and seems unfit, Henderson's play acting embarrassing.
Southgate has already proven to be a good chess player, now's his chance to prove he's got the bottle to go for broke. Bring on Rashford for starters

Sorry FF, don't think it was a red card offense - Henderson made a meal of it. However, if VAR intervenes the ref cannot give a yellowFactualFrank wrote:But you agree... that was a red card, yes? We should be playing 10 men, yes?

They remind me of Watford. Is Deeney on the bench?

It was a red card all day long. It was violent conduct simple as that.
Confident we'll win this.

Pickford... Very good at calling for the ball and passing it 5 ft to the person it should have been passed to anyway!!!
Shame he can't stop shots tho... Let's hope we dont find out tonight

No one was going to die from it but if you intentionally thrust your head into an opponents chin its a red card. The only argument can be if he didn't intentionally do it. I'll leave that up to you to decide BC.Belgianclaret wrote:Sorry FF, don't think it was a red card offense - Henderson made a meal of it. However, if VAR intervenes the ref cannot give a yellow
