Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Good to see that Eufa have their priorities right. Maybe instead of inspecting cupboard space and chair types, they could use that resource to better stamp out racism in the game, corruption, drug use etc?
I get that it is important that certain standards are applied but this seems a little OTT to say the least!

Sounds like Uefa would only be happy if everyone played in an identical stadium designed by themselves.

If Aberdeen didn't play in red they would have us playing in red tape.

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Also looks like reduced tickets for the home leg. Front couple of rows of the Longside & Bee Hole probably can’t be used due to the size of the advertising boards. Why can’t they just use the grounds as they are? Or is it like the EU, jobs for our friends. The Larger advertising will probably have to be hired off a uefa friendly company. Plus the “block of seats for uefa”.
It really is just about money and nothing to do with football or the fans.

Just play it at The Arbories then we can be on par with some of those eastern European clubs.

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
The bit that surprised me was when we were down to the last two and one was Famagusta, who due to trouble last time they played in the EL they have to play behind closed doors. Imagine exiting to a minnow and none of us allowed there to see it? I think we can thank our lucky stars we got Aberdeen.
But yes, amazed at UEFA’s pedantic rules given some small teams play in this.

No betting company shirt advertising in certain EU countries.
If we get drawn there I’ll buy one of them shirts.

Always a toss up for me when I was at the station between a Wizzard down Sycamore or a 20 summat down Padiham Rd. Never told the bus driver the destination when getting a ticket, always asked by fare.bf2k wrote:Ah good memories.

I would definitely buy one if I got the chance but in reality if it happened the club will probably arrange a one off shirt sponsor, piston broke wrote:No betting company shirt advertising in certain EU countries.

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Everton have had wooden seats and a wooden floor for years in the Europa league with no problem whatsoever, but now Burnley are in the Europa league they suddenly have a major problem with wooden seats?
The club need to tell them where to shove it.

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Whilst UEFA do appear stringent, I do wonder that changes being enforced are ones that we should have done a long time ago.
We’ve dragged our feet for so long regarding modernisation of the Turf, that we’re now rushing to get jobs done. This includes the disabled facilities.
I just hope that our reluctance in the past to spend money on the ground hasn’t resulting in his spending dead money on titivating parts of the ground that are ultimately going to be demolished and rebuilt.

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Surely It can't be that much of an issue considering Everton had wooden seats before they played in Europe, whilst they played in Europe and still have wooden seats even though they won't be playing in Europe this season.Walton wrote:Weird how loads of people were saying there were issues with the wooden seats yet everyone who raised it got shot down
Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
It is strange, but as a club we have no experience of managing European football at the Turf, which is maybe why UEFA are being as stringent as they are.Spijed wrote:Surely It can't be that much of an issue considering Everton had wooden seats before they played in Europe, whilst they played in Europe and still have wooden seats even though they won't be playing in Europe this season.
The Hannover game will have done us no favours. We couldn’t cope with a few Hundred Hannover fans, so quite rightly, Uefa will question how we can cope with thousands of Ajax or Lech Poznan fans?

What did you expect to happen that didn't?
They were kept in their area despite being intent on disorder and escorted out later on when Burnley fans had left.. I don't know what you expect the club to be able to do.
Should Manchester been able to host any European games after Rangers run riot? What about Liverpool after throwing missiles at the City coach?
Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
The game was abandoned. Clearly, the club and Police weren’t confident in their policing and security operation which had been agreed before the game. So yeah, we couldn’t cope with the level of disorder with the resources available. Pretty obvious really.Quickenthetempo wrote:What do you mean we couldn't cope with the Hannover fans?

Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
It wouldn't of got abandoned if it was a league game. Just precaution and not worth the hassle being a friendly.
Re: Lancs telegraph article about changes for Europa
Yes, it wouldn’t have been abandoned if a Prem game as the Policing levels in and around the ground, plus the stewarding, would’ve been far greater.Quickenthetempo wrote:It wouldn't of got abandoned if it was a league game. Just precaution and not worth the hassle being a friendly.
It was definitely the right decision to abandon the game, but it’s pretty embarrassing nonetheless. The club and the Police got it completely wrong.
Anyway, hopefully we’ve learnt a few lessons.

And I bet if you held a match to our wooden seats and to a new plastic one, you'd do more damage to the plastic one.Spijed wrote:Surely It can't be that much of an issue considering Everton had wooden seats before they played in Europe, whilst they played in Europe and still have wooden seats even though they won't be playing in Europe this season.

I've never understood the fascination with plastic seats over wooden ones at a football match.dsr wrote:And I bet if you held a match to our wooden seats and to a new plastic one, you'd do more damage to the plastic one.
You'd never have plastic seats as part of your furniture in your home (unless you shop at Ikea!)

Ajax in Burnley would be a conpletely different proposition. They could get here in 4 hours. In their thousands. Before I get shot down, 4 hours from taking off at schipol airport

Well luckily for everyone else you still post on here. When you’re not too busy taking pictures of empty seats during games that is
