A few beers in Sowerby Bridge

Post by Mala591 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 10:41 am

Sowerby Bridge - a small pleasant town which looks and feels a little bit neglected BUT it has some great real ale pubs. Catch the train £8.40 day return.

Jubilee refreshment rooms (next to the station)
Navigation (ok beer nice beer garden)
Shepherd's rest
The Moorings
Hog's Head Brew House (my favourite)
Commercial (J D Wetherspoon)
Hollins Mill (formerly called The Works)
Puzzle Hall (closed but will soon re-open as a community pub)

Come on Burnley town centre you have a lot of catching up to do!

Couldn't agree more Mala, absolutely top place if you are a real ale drinker. Add to the list The Firehouse, Turk's Head and William's Bar.
The best way if you are on the train, is to start up at the top of the hill at The Shepherd's Rest and slowly wander downhill to the station.

Hog’s Head is excellent. Great curry house across the road too.

Was there yesterday. Excellent. Some great beers. £5.50 return with a rail card. A good day out.

Between Hebden Bridge and Halifax Tim. There are some direct trains from Burnley Manchester Rd, but usually it requires a change at Hebden bridge.
