I'm not going to Manchester but instead going to sample the delights Burnley has to offer on a Thursday evening.
Might be an early night from what I've been told

There will be fans travel without tickets but nothing like that number.
Also worth highlighting that we are a far friendlier bunch than Racist FC.
It would also appear that a large number of travelling support are only going to be in Burnley for the game and away to Manchester straight afterwards.
I hope that you are right. Maybe the police in Scotland are looking at a 'worst case scenario' re: policing the match here but the figure I quoted was the one offered to and taken on by those with the responsibility of policing the game here. As for 'far friendlier' I again hope that is the case but a full day's drinking prior to an evening kick off can alter even the mildest of mindsets. If I got the slightest impression of something resembling Celtic here in 1978 then I wouldn't attend the game and would encourage people, especially with children, to do the same. And that's coming from someone who has been attending since the late 1950's.

Thursday's used to be booming 20 yrs ago when I went out on them.
They're will certainly be late drinking available in the town centre. I know BB11 was open til 3am after the England game on a Wednesday night.
I can't see the cricket club shutting after the game until the last customer leaves.

Chill out Silky. The 2400 who have got tickets in the away will be well behaved travelled everywhere fans.
Any risk fans will get turned around at the first service station.

I'd be telling porkies if I didn't admit that like every other club we have some absolute arseholes in our away support.
I have travelled widely in Europe with Aberdeen for the past thirty eight years and incidents have been few and far between.
Probably the worst was Madrid but that was down to a combination of Athletico ultras and the Spanish police indiscriminate lashing out with batons.
There was also a far more serious incident involving a female Aberdeen supporter but news of that didn't break until the day after the game which is probably just as well.

I hope you guys are greeted with open arms on the 26th and look forward to the same when we come down on the 2nd.

Couldn't be more chilled. I've got my ticket and am looking forward to the game. There are certainly far more important games coming up than this one.

Will the winners between us know who we will play against before the 2nd leg ? Seem to vaguely remember the draw for next round is made prior to 2nd leg ??

Looking at sales online and availability it’s looking like a low crowd, regardless of opposition you’d like to think we’d come close to selling out, although £25 for adults is steep

If its a decent team/place to go in next round , then we should get a few more on if first leg is a close game

Total farce the ticket situation for this game and it's all down to dithering and lack of clarity from the club. Should have been a simple case of first up first served. Like buying tickets for a concert.

From reading posts re: attendance for the home game it seems this so-called 'Battle of Britain' hasn't really whetted the appetite or caught the imagination of our fans. Have Aberdeen sold out their home tickets?

Hello there, another Aberdeen fan. Heading down to Burnley for the away leg but also unfortunately was unable to get a ticket despite travelling over Europe to watch the dons. Club dealt with things wrong. Hows home end sales?

You can spread the cost of your season ticket (card) over 12 months at no additional charge to avoid paying the lump sum. My friend says it's very popular.

Booked my ticket today and made a right mess of it.

Thought I was booking the front row of the JHU and ended up booking the front row of the JHL.

Have emailed the club to cancel my original ticket but no response so looks like I’ve paid double lol

Going to be loads of Dons in the home end.
It is easy to acquire a ticket for Turf Moor if you want one.

Who remembers us all taking the P!ss out of that lot down the road, all those years ago, when they couldn't sell out against Trelleborgs?

Mind you, we took the P!ss a lot more after the game! ;)

Will there be plenty of you jockeys coming down without tickets and infiltrating our ranks?

If so you must wear the full ceremonial dress

Don't know when the penny will finally drop with some of you.
The Trelleborg game was in the middle of September - so no excuse for not attending.
This is bang in the middle of the Burnley holidays, and much as many of us would love to be there, it's simply impossible.
I know of hardly anyone who's attending - and all absences are down to holiday plans.

It is excuses really as our fan base is probably 40,000 strong now in terms of attenders each season. Maybe more.

I’d have thought from 40,000 people that 15,000 would buy tickets to make it a decent home crowd?

Comparing with Blackburn won’t quite work though as their games were during the season, and tickets were as low as £5, and mainly half their League prices. Our pricing for a holiday period game is similar to our normal League prices (especially the season ticket average game price).

I'm not going to come out with the usual CM/UTC standard line of I know 100s that won't go because it's £25.

I know of 6 Clarets, 2 going, 2 on holiday and 2 cannot be bothered.

All the more reason that Burnley should have given us that entire stand.
We would sell it out no problem. Eleven years ago when we were shite, we took over 7,000 to Athletico Madrid in the full knowledge we'd probably get humped.

Appreciate that you'll counter with saying that you should have been given more tickets for Pittodrie, but the difference is I believe we will be close to a full house. Not too often we get to see a team from the world's greatest league give us a footballing lesson ;)

Not sure how the layout is at Pittodrie, but to gain access to the “extra” allocation that you would have got (ie the home section) then your fans would have been split up and I’m not sure the police would agree to that

Ah ok apologies mate.
I seem to remember at the outset the debate was whether we got half of a stand or all of it, so assumed it was feasible ;)

It’s difficult to explain if don’t know the layout but basically because of the adjacent cricket club fans would have to use route highlighted.

Saying that, away fans are welcome at the cricket club and so fans mingle together anyway, but maybe that was the thoughts of club/officials

Wilks_BFC what do you mean by the fans will have to be split up ? Lincoln got all the stand from what I remember.
Has work been done on the concourse since ?
Anyway probably irrelevant now that tickets have been sold now for home fans in cricketfield.

Lincoln didn’t get the whole stand (although they did want the whole stadium  )

Away fans enter from Harry Potts Way. You wouldn’t be able to access the “home section” through the concourse from that side

I'm not counting seats but it looks like there's plenty available. Probably won't be a sell-out, I'd say we're looking at 15,000 optimistically.

Wilkes. There's a massive gate that can open to gain access to the home section.

It would take a lot longer with less turnstyles etc but could be done.

Fair enough but it’s a mute point as it’ll never happen for this or any other game

Alright lads, Dons fan here. Thought I'd sign up and have a chat. Thoroughly enjoyed the game the other night, thought it was a really competitive, blood and thunder kind of game you would expect from two UK teams. Gutted about the goal we conceeded, but overall thought we matched up well given the enormous financial differences between our clubs.

Would love to come down on Thursday and sample some Burnley hospitality but have booked all my holidays this year; lesson learned. I think the away goal will probably see you through unfortunately, but I hope it's as competitive at Turf Moor. Despite the high probability of us going out, I hope we've given you a new perspective on Scottish football, as we're constantly derided by English football fans (on this forum amongst many others).

I will say, there's been many comments about your team not being fully prepared, but you should remember, it was our first competitive game also. We played fairly well, but also were nowhere near our peak performance. I'd also say on the basis of Thursday night, Celtic would likely have put 3 or 4 past you.

That said, you all seem good lads, and wish you all the best for the coming season (starting on Friday). :)

We'd have approached Celtic a little bit different from yourselves.hopefully the Burnley folk who couldn't get a ticket for pittodrie will be in attendance :D
