Bob Lord Stand spruce up

Post by randomclaret2 » Mon Jul 09, 2018 9:40 am

Do my eyes deceive me or is the exterior of the Bob Lord Stand finally getting a much needed lick of paint ?

You mean they've painted the window frames and are removing that canopy over the door that was dangerous?

Looked as if the cladding where the "Burnley Football Club " lettering is was also being painted ?

Its about time....the ground in general is looking really tired both outside and in the concourses...The player photos on the outside walls do look great though and have improved things a lot.

Don’t say that we might get a new plastic stadium and this forum would implode.

Saw some activity up there last Friday. I noticed the old Sky ads from 2009 have also been taken down.

Hopefully they’ll fix the hand dryer in the JMU gents that hasn’t worked for over 2 years.

You are really hoping for too much now. Get a grip man! This is Burnley you are talking about. Remember the Old Beehole toilets. They got washed regularly, every time it rained

View from the corner of the old Park View pub. They’re definitely painting it, which is many seasons overdue. Those horrid Sky signs have gone too. :)

Exactly! Painting cladding is normal, and is what clubs and businesses do up and down the country to keep things looking clean and fresh. Ours has become a bit of an embarrassment, especially with it being on the main road and being the main stand. At least they're doing something about it now. Hopefully they'll replace the Burnley Football Club sign with a similar piece, and actually have it lit up again for midweek matches!

Looks a hell of a lot better. Hopefully, going forward, more time and money will be spent keeping the exterior of the ground looking fresh. Whoever was responsible at the club for letting it get so run down should have that photo permanently stuck on their desk and be forced to do a week of pre-season training with the first team as punishment.

Was down there this morning and to be honest the Bob Lord just looks such a mishmash of different sections. Characterful? Not really. As for the new disabled corners, well I think they’ll do well to have them in use by Christmas.

That would be OK untill some of the bulbs went and we would have to wait years for replacements to be fitted. We could end up with something like

The exterior of the Bob Lord and Cricketfield is shameful.

I love our traditional ground, and it’s location buried in the rows of terrace houses, but jeez, let’s have some self respect. Our ‘main’ stand does not befit a club of our stature.

The Sky banners that CT alluded to have been an eyesore for years. Does anybody at the Club look above head height when they walk in? They seem more interested in spending money in the corporate areas than anywhere else.

There are clubs in League 1 and League 2 with better grounds and facilities than us, and with all our millions, there’s really no excuse.

When they were doing the spruce up, did they find the remains of any missing Bob Lord Stand season ticket holders, along with their mobility devices?

To be fair to the club, I'd imagine the return on investment is significantly greater for money spent on improving corporate areas.

With a £58 million Operating Profit about to be revealed, you'd think we could afford to have the Club's name permanently lit up for the whole world to see.

I'd love to know when the last time was that Mike, John or Barry even set foot on the pavement on the opposite side of Harry Potts Way, if ever.

Aye, and people wonder why staying in the Premier League remains our number one prority, something that Dyche understands only too well and will likely be reflected in his team selection for the Europa League.

Inside as well. The block next to the chairman’s seats, right as you look at the pitch, has been removed and I was told being replaced by a disabled section. Guess this is inline with every stand having facilities for disabled supporters. I was surprised at the location if correct but makes sense with access through Bob Lord main doors, lift? Then through entrance to Directors box/seats

I think he’ll pick a strong team for the first two games as it will help with the pre-season for the main players. Maybe even for the first leg of a 3rd qualifying round if we got through?

Does anyone know if the club are doing anything to remember the young apprentice Ben Lee who sadly died at Turf Moor, in the memorial garden?
It would be a nice gesture.

I looked at the title of this thread and thought all 5 words are verbs as well as nouns. :o

How often does that happen?

Well it is a little under 2 hours to the first WC semi-final - and less than 26 hours to the big one, tomorrow. :D

Some sort of work going on around the Bob Lord Stand main entrance. Looks a bit more substantial than painting the doors and replacing the canopy. The shabby paintwork above has also finally been painted and looks much better for it

I have a ticket for the home end for the second leg (also now have an away one as it happens).
Seat reference starts BL5N so assume this is the stand it is in ?

Might not have any need for it now. I would give it away but the issue is that'd I'd have to go to the ground to pick it up and don't want to waste precious Cricket Club drinking time in doing so
