Re: Gawthorpe Hall old garden revealed
Three temporary exhibitions worth seeing in the Hall and Great Barn at the moment: one about the Kay-Shuttleworth family’s involvement in two world wars (seven family members lost), a contemporary textile response to Gawthorpe Textiles Collection's original Battle of Britain machine-lace panel and the story of BFC at Gawthorpe (Great Barn entrance).

The original textile collection is worth seeing. The detail of some of the work is watchmaker standard.

I was down there about three weeks ago with some friends who were visiting and the image of the garden was just starting to show through. We thought it was someone driving around on a lawnmower that had caused it.
The BFC Display next to the Café is very good.

Re: Gawthorpe Hall old garden revealed
New grange mentioned in the OP is fascinating. It's a tomb semi under ground. It's older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza.
There is a passage that leads into a chamber with 3 alcoves. The passage and chamber are aligned with the rising sun at the Winter Solstice.
At sun rise, on the winter solstice, whole chamber is filled with golden sun light, for a few fleeting moments.
Fabulous!
