Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Apparently so. Everton are in advanced talks to sign Malcom from Bordeaux and Liverpool have made a massive bid for Roma goalkeeper Allison.
I suppose we will be looking for someone called Joe to work with Billy Mercer.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Klopp will now have spent almost quarter of a billion in 2018 alone. World’s most expensive defender and keeper.
Wonder if the press will look past his charm and start to ask questions if he doesn’t win a trophy this season?

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
If I was paying north of £60 million I'd want a young Buffon or Shilton. Just another indication of how the game is going.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Alisson is, in my humble opinion, a very good goalkeeper. Seen him play a lot for Roma and not all surprised he's been linked with a lot of major teams.

Yeah but they brought in £160M for Coutinho.Tall Paul wrote:Remember when he said this:

So? Did you miss the last sentence of the quote?KRBFC wrote:Yeah but they brought in £160M for Coutinho.
Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
So Allison is twice as good as Ederson? if we are going off the fees, I think not! big pressure on Klopp now to deliver a trophy next season with the outlays being made by LFC this summer..
Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Yeah but do we not take into account the net spend anymore or is that only relevant when it suits the point you're making?Tall Paul wrote:So? Did you miss the last sentence of the quote?
Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Where the money has come from isn't relevant. Klopp said he wants to do it differently from clubs that spend huge amounts of money on players. Since then he's spent world record fees on a defender and goalkeeper.KRBFC wrote:Yeah but do we not take into account the net spend anymore or is that only relevant when it suits the point you're making?
That makes him a liar and a hypocrite.

I think you could get Shilton for less than that these days.ashtonlongsider wrote:If I was paying north of £60 million I'd want a young Buffon or Shilton. Just another indication of how the game is going.

Liverpool fans love a net spend shout.
They sold Coutinho for £140 million and with Allison that is £235 million spent in 2018, give or take. That’s a hell of Andy spend, particularly when you go on about not spending money even if you could.
I think that’s crazy money for Allison. He’s not been first choice for Roma all that long and i’ve not been mega convinced about him when i’ve seen him.

Alisson must of caught Liverpool's eye when they scored 7 goals past him a couple of months ago

Not convinced on him from the 8 or 9 times I’ve seen him.
Liverpool’s spend is what you’d expected bearing in mind the money that’s come in. Thought they’d bring a few more in rather than going big on a few mind.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
I'm not sure how accurate those figures are but even if they're spot on, £95M net spend isn't massive amounts of money in comparison with rivals like the 2 Manchester clubs.Socrates wrote:Liverpool fans love a net spend shout.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
I’ve never been a big fan of net spend arguments, particularly one which is falsely inflated by one transfer - as is the case here.
Fair enough about the Manchester clubs. What about everybody else though? £95 million net spend over two windows is massive ...... as is my original point of near quarter a billion spent in two windows.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Is it not what we are expecting the big clubs to spend now with the income they have?
Liverpool will have substantial income from last years Champions League to add to the Premier League money as well.

It might well be, but Klopp definitely said he wouldn't do it.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Is it not what we are expecting the big clubs to spend now with the income they have?

Nobody really believes what managers say though do they?
No manager in their right mind would turn it down.

Who cares if he said he wouldnt do it. Maybe he has realised he has to to compete. No shame there. And i dont like liverpool.
Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
They’d be better off signing Alison Moyet.
Nothing would get past her. She’s a fair unit, like.

Market Leaders...
Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
There was no doubting Liverpool's weakness last season - a quality centre back and goalkeeper. He's now filled those positions.
I reckon it will be exciting times at Anfield this coming season.

I agree, their title challenge might last well into November this season.Hipper wrote:There was no doubting Liverpool's weakness last season - a quality centre back and goalkeeper. He's now filled those positions.

If I had a pound for every time I heard how it was "their year", I'd be even richer than I already am.

Re: Malcom Allison for Liverpool
Leicester being linked with £12m bid for Danny Ward (Liverpool GK who was on loan at Hudds for their promotion season). Pope's surely got to be worth £30m+ if that's an accurate benchmark.
