Sam Vokes on Aberdeen Challenge
Sam Vokes on Aberdeen Challenge

Burnley star Sam Vokes reckons Aberdeen have an advantage in the Battle of Britain showdown because they are fitter.
But he's targeted a place in the Europa League group stage if they can past Derek McInnes' side.
The Dons host the Lancashire high-fliers next week in the first leg of the second qualifying round at Pittodrie.
Burnley warmed up for the game by playing two different friendlies on Tuesday with two different teams and lost them both - 1-0 to Shrewsbury Town and 2-0 to Blackpool.
And Vokes reckons Aberdeen returning to pre-season training earlier will help them.
He said: "They’ve been back in pre-season a little while now, they’ll be fit and ready to go.
"It’s a game we’re all looking forward to. It’s going to be a tough test.
We all want to make the group stage, it’s a massive chance, but going up there will be a tough game.
"It’s a strange one, you’re expecting to go into Europe and you end up with a British team, but for us it doesn't change anything, we still have to go out and put the performance in to get the result we want.
"For us it's going to be a tough test and it will be a good game to get them back at Turf Moor as well.
"Not many of the lads, including myself, have never played in Europe in a club competition, so for us and as a club it will be brilliant to make the group stage, so that is the ambition for us."

Nowhere in that article is there a quote where Vokes says that Aberdeen have an advantage or that they are fitter or that them returning to pre-season training earlier will help them. They’re all the writer’s words. Crap article.

Ah right, thanks for that Top Don. It's a challenge alright, can't wait to get up to Aberdeen, should be a great atmosphere.
As for the outcome, I have supported the clarets long enough to know any result is possible but I'm confident we can get through over 2 legs.

Is this a Scottish version of the more familiar one with Jeremy Paxman asking the questions? New series started on Monday here, too.

This news might make the challenge easier for the Claretshttps://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/abe ... wage-hike/ how on earth Salford can afford 4k a week in the National League god only knows,Graham Alexander will have high expectations on his shoulders this season, sounds like promotion is a requirement given their budget.
