Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
As above, really want to watch the game, anyone know of any pubs showing it? Any help would be greatly received.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
Sure some pubs might risk it if they can get an internet stream but they won't be advertising it and probably best not to mention names on a public forum.
One of my locals was fined over 10k a couple of years ago for showing live PL games which weren't on any of the regular UK sports channels as they were 3pm KO's

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
Can we get some more threads asking of its on TV, yeah?
6 threads isn't enough.
Honestly lads, it's getting ridiculous. We're supposed to be adults, not bairns waiting for santa to deliver our presents down the chimney.
Have a look in the mirror tonight, bud. Ask your reflection who you are.

A fine is worth the risk if they can fill the pubVintage Claret wrote:Sure some pubs might risk it if they can get an internet stream but they won't be advertising it and probably best not to mention names on a public forum.

Maybe for some but I'm guessing your average village local would need to sell a lot of pints to recoup 10 grand!cutsy123 wrote:A fine is worth the risk if they can fill the pub

Your right, but most pubs who have been caught and fined will have shown 100s of games previous.Vintage Claret wrote:Maybe for some but I'm guessing your average village local would need to sell a lot of pints to recoup 10 grand!
I know of two pubs that have been fined and still show the streams.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
The trouble with this is that the pubs don’t plan for getting caught and fined. A lot of pubs are struggling so do it to attract business to keep their heads above water. Yes they have a few decent days, but the fines are huge for them and often cannot be paid. Bees Knees in town was closed because of a fine I heard, although the company have since opened up where Pharoahs was, and The Mix also received a huge fine and closed.Quickenthetempo wrote:Your right, but most pubs who have been caught and fined will have shown 100s of games previous.

Let’s say a pint is £3 and a pub makes 50% margin (??), then they’d have to shift 6,667 pints just to break even on a £10K fine! I’d imagine the fines are always dependent on the size of the pub to ensure they’re hurt financially by it?

I did, and I'm happy to say the reply wasn't Millertime v1.7.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
Never been to the Fanzone before whats it like? Will it be an outdoor screen? says there's a bar there but you cant take drinks into fanzone so how close is bar to fanzone? how big is it and is it likely to be rammed and hard work getting a drink or is there plenty of space?

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
On website it said there will be a bar open which i assumed might be in the stand so you could have a drink before game but might have read it wrong or does it mean a bar with non alcoholic drinks?

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
Fanzone has a big bar with a few seats and big telly.
Outside they will have a big screen with the concourse open for food drinks and toilets.

Allowed a drink at bar but they are saying no drinks in the Fanzone.
Unsure why.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
Maybe after seeing the videos of the England games in the WC they’ve decided not to serve beer due to the dickheads that’ll turn up to throw it over everybody. With kids probably attending it’ll probably be for the best.

Probably to discourage the moronic beer throwing craze that is sweeping the nation.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Allowed a drink at bar but they are saying no drinks in the Fanzone.

Have to say I did think the same as you would happen if drink was sold .Dyched wrote:Maybe after seeing the videos of the England games in the WC they’ve decided not to serve beer due to the dickheads that’ll turn up to throw it over everybody. Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
I normally go in and around there before home games and have to say screening of a match to having a pre game pint will create a much different atmosphere.Tribesmen wrote:Have to say I did think the same as you would happen if drink was sold .

I think that's just the notice any business has about not bringing your own drinks/food in from outside.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Allowed a drink at bar but they are saying no drinks in the Fanzone.

So they get all the profits.
But it could also be you get in and out of the fanzone bar queue quicker with no obstructions.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
I was wondering about the wording as it isn’t very clear as to if you can buy food & drink from concourse and take across or not at all
Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
It's only 90 minutes. Do without it . Have a beer when you get home if you need to.

Will the screen work though? Knowing our club we’ll end up in the car park drinking warm tinnies while listening to radio lancs.

Re: Anywhere showing the Aberdeen game?
I rang up to check as only fancy going if i can have a few drinks and the reason for the messaging around no food and drink inside the fanzone is they dont want people arriving with fish & chips from chippy and stinking the place out and making loads of mess
It sounded from my chat like they werent even bothered about someone stood in car park watching screens with their own beers but the bars are definitely open and shouldnt be any issues if youre after having a drink whilst you watch the match
Their main concern is that they are expecting it to be rammed
