The value of Vokes
The value of Vokes
Are we really thinking of getting rid of Big Sam , again tonight proved his worth to the team and more agile than a very poor Wood tonight

Re: The value of Vokes
we played well 2nd half but once again the change of Hendrick with Vokes made a big difference, as did the switch of sides of JBG and Lennon, who played particularly well I thought

I am sure the people who matter Sean and Ian arent looking to get rid of one of our best players.Even with Aberdeens rough house tactics he still got free to score a great goal

Re: The value of Vokes
There is only one Sam Vokes..... Proving to be very good at coming off the bench... Is this working against him ?

No real rumours of him leaving but people seemed to accept it as fact.
Big part of the squad and comes up big in important games, bit like Barnes.

Re: The value of Vokes
He has real experience of big games in Europe and it shows. Need to keep him and play him more this season.
Did nothing much wrong after 2 goals at Chelsea and then the odd miss at home to WBA and then benched...

Re: The value of Vokes
Everytime we start with Hendrick behind Wood we look a much better side once we change to 442 around the 60 minute mark, almost like we should just start that way.

Re: The value of Vokes
If you pay a record amount of money for a main striker and then don't play him when he's available questions will be asked.
Wood had a good goalscoring record last year and deserved his place at times but so did Sam who never did anything wrong; who gets the nod, the price tag.

Re: The value of Vokes
I think if we have a European run with more games against different types of opposition it will give us more chance to chop and change and better understand the striker combinations we have at our disposal.
It is almost like if Wood is fit he plays and yet that may not be the best option against certain teams (even in the prem). If I was Sam I’d be wanting some guarantees around game time given the patience he has shown up to now.
However, Sir Dyche knows best and will sort it as usual

We need to drop Hendrick n play vokes every time as we look a far better team with vokes on supporting wood, unlike Hendrick who just looks like a rabbit in the headlights..Hibsclaret wrote:I think if we have a European run with more games against different types of opposition it will give us more chance to chop and change and better understand the striker combinations we have at our disposal.

I think we would be mad to get rid of Sam.

Vokes was positive and played like he meant it. Wood is still out there somewhere, looking to win a header.

Re: The value of Vokes
Woody hassled the defense and Sam poached a goal as he does.442 is the way to play at the Turf attack from the off.One of their main cloggers went off lets hope it not too trivial a knock

Didn’t Wood win the header that led to Vokes’ goal?IanMcL wrote:Vokes was positive and played like he meant it. Wood is still out there somewhere, looking to win a header.
Re: The value of Vokes
Not denying that. Commenting on the whole performance. It didn't matter that much, as there was no-one for the knock down/on. Beaten every time though.

Re: The value of Vokes
Dyche likes to keep things tight for the first hour and then tries to win the game.
If we take the lead early we tend to sit back too deep.
