Pittodrie
Fantastic old school stadium. And a great atmosphere. Love the character and location too. Such a shame to be moving to a purpose built new stadium.
Loved it.

Agree...brilliant atmosphere. Passionate fans and I will now watch out for their results more in future. Just in, staying in Aberdeen tonight, from a hilarious post match bar session with an assortment of Aberdonian Trainspotting types. A great night all round.

Locals made a real fuss of my nephews. Played football with them. Bought them drinks and snacks. Just walked back to hotel and one fella insisted on giving his scarf to them.
Top fans.

A taxi back to Aberdeen wouldnt be much different in price or cost
Re: Pittodrie
Got back to my car and a lad gave me his Aberdeen flag as a souvenir. Sat in the midst of a VERY partisan Aberdeen crowd and the chap with a incredibly loud screeching voice, constantly shouting at everything and everyone. Particularly ref and lino, even when they have a free kick to Aberdeen! He scratch whistled too! I might be deaf! Thankfully the Longside is more genteel!
Great atmosphere - so loud, I never heard a Claret song until it was 1-1.

Re: Pittodrie
What a phenomenal football experience that was.
Loved how friendly and convivial the people were but for 90 minutes there was no love lost. Proper atmosphere, Had a feel of Burnden Park in the 80s. The huge graveyard next to the stadium, the long dusk and the ‘har’ rolling in just added to the spectacle.
On reflection an excellent result, given the fact we were caught between a pre season encounter and a blood and thunder cup tie. Will go down as one of my favourite away days. Thank you Aberdeen.

We were in the "family stand" right behind the goal the ball went in twice, that was also very loud and passionate with support for their team many times the whole ground joined in even the equivalent to the Bob Lord.
Best atmosphere we have experienced for along time but quiet when Sam scored

Re: Pittodrie
Guys Aberdeen Fan here and just wanted to say well done to you all. Your fans were great last night and hopefully enjoyed our city and the football without any trouble. (the way it should be)
The game itself was about the correct result although I am slightly gutted. You did have a lot of the ball but never done too much with it while we defended a lot and had some good chances when breaking.
I hope you extend the hospitality to the travelling 2400 dons and I am looking forward to coming to Turf Moor next week and I will be heading to the cricket club around 1pm so happy to meet up with a few of you locals for a few pints or 2.
Whatever the result next week good luck in the season ahead.

It was excellent, a proper football ground. Chatting to the locals afterwards they said it's not usually like that and moving to a new stadium will make it worse.

I thought it was a fair result overall. If the Dons has won it wouldn't have been a travesty as we were poor and they weren't, but If we had won it would have been a steal.

Re: Pittodrie
Agree, but aberdeen int he second half has not much fuel like in the first half...they go back slowly to keep the result, just using counter attack with mackay steven, maybe one of the best on the field....then with vokes we have more power and we could reach even the 2-1....but one gol away is like a victory....Foshiznik wrote:I thought it was a fair result overall. Dunno about that Foshiznik, we created more and better chances, despite being poor.

Agreed, but apart from the saved diving header, I don't remember too many other chances. Not that Aberdeen had too many either.Lancasterclaret wrote:Dunno about that Foshiznik, we created more and better chances, despite being poor.

Hey folks. I am an admin for an aberdeen fans forum and i have posted a few of your comments about your experience at pittodrie. Glad the majority of you were made to feel welcome. Also, thanks for making the atmosphere special. It takes two sets of fans to create something like that. Obviously a good bit of rivalry but all seemed to be done in a great spirit. Here is to the same for the 2nd leg. Unfortunately i cant get down, but following on from that i may try a trip to turf moor in the future.

If you have young in your group take a football down for them. Usually get 30 a side games going on.
There's plenty of good pubs and clubs in Burnley for you to enjoy, especially if you like real ale so I wouldn't go there too early.

I am staying in manchester so will be taking the train to Burnley Manchester Road. Any decent pubs we should head to prior to the Cricket Club on the way down or any we should avoid.

It won't get busy with home fans til after 4/5pm. A few near the Turf are home fans only but I don't know what time they start to apply that rule.
The two W'spoons will be popular on Manchester Rd and town centre., Bridge Bier House is a decent boozer. 110 club and Miners near the ground.
There's loads to occupy you on the way to the ground.

Not sure if it will be open that early but Ministry of Ale is the first pub you will come to as you walk down from the station. Its a local microbrewery.
Its on the left (Trafalgar St) as you approach the roundabout just 1-2 mins walk from the platforms

Re: Pittodrie
Really proud to read the positive comments from Burnley fans about their visit to Aberdeen. As a Dons fan it is great to hear that you enjoyed your trip and that the locals were welcoming towards you. The atmosphere from both sets of fans was excellent and the match was a good advert for the much maligned Scottish game (by us too). It was always going to take a bit of luck and and us to play well and you too be caught cold to keep us in the tie for the away leg. Looking forward to our trip South as are all of our travelling support who will hopefully behave in the boisterous but friendly manner we are most usually noted for. Good luck for the rest of the season. p.s. on walking to the match you would have passed very close by the school this man went to (just off King Street nearby where you lot were drinking): https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/abe ... et-school/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Pittodrie
One of the welcoming older generation Aberdonians who stopped to talk to us yesterday claimed to have gone to school with Adam Blacklaw.
Fantastic memories were created yesterday thanks to the atmosphere and attitude of both sets of fans both inside and outside the stadium.
I hope that this is repeated next week where unfortunately one team has to go out.

Wonderful night in a truly fantastic ‘Proper’ football stadium (like ours), that clearly means a great deal to Dons fans. Great atmosphere. Proud to have been there.

If you want to see a bit more of Lancashire before the game you could always get the X43 bus from Manchester to Rawtenstall (it goes onto Burnley). It is a small town only about 45 mins away (just a further 15/20mins on to Burnley) and has a great selection of real ale pubs.SheepyAFC wrote:Thanks QTT

We (Aberdeen) have to come out and get a goal so it should be a decent match. We may get slaughtered in the end but whatever the result it should be a good occasion. And the away support will be lively for sure. 2400 tanked up 'Jocks'. Be noisy for sure.
