IF we do get through, what are the chances of the games being the other way round? I ready somewhere that’s there is a chance the fixtures may be switched

Besiktas have also been drawn to play the first leg of the next round at home. Can't see it being an issue personally but who knows?

From what I’ve read the club we’ve drawn don’t have any fans, so I doubt it will be a problem.

Do you know their average gate?

Besiktas, Galatasaray and İstanbul Başak are all playing at home on the 25th August in the Turkish league so they can probably cope with just two sides.

6000 last season according to this - which is apparently double what it was the year before. Difficult for a relatively new club in a city that’s already pretty well served...

Istanbul population 15 million. London around 10 million. Manchester 0.5 million, Greater Manchester 2.5 million.

They say travel broadens the mind. I didn't know Istanbul was 50% larger than London.

I don't think we need to be concerned about the game being switched because there is another game on in Istanbul on the same night.

Interesting read from the Guardian. Some things about the club not that disimilar to the Clarets - but a short history and competing at the level they do means it will be a big achievement to get through this round - without getting ahead of Thursday night, Aug 2nd.

One thing I did notice when looking at logistics is it's around 90km in a taxi/car from Istanbul Sabiha airport to the stadium, and it takes around one hour. Which won't be a cheap do I imagine.

Their average gate was 3200 last season ( home ) but that takes into account the fener/gala/bestikas crowds. After comp ueafa tickets they had about 700 home fans for Hoffenheim Europa game . Joke fans but a very decent team and infrastructure indeed

If he scores the winner, would the headline be 'Turkowski'?

UEFA rules state only one game may be played in any city on same day, in the event of two teams in same city being due to play on the same night one will be moved back by 24 or 48 hrs,( UEFA Europa lge rule 21.03)
as happened to Rangers this when they played Shkupi in 1st qualifying end. I highly suspect Besiktas would stay on Thursday, so we are likely to be moved to Wednesday or Thursday.

See if you can bamboozle UEFA into accepting that, "It was Thursday but we moved it to Thursday" . Easy.

By the way 21.03 only applies if the Turkish FA have invoked that in advance. I'm not aware of the Turkish FA's stance but I'd hope (could be mistaken) that they'd have already announced that swap if so since it would apply regardless of whether it's us or Aberdeen.

In 2016, Başakşehir and Fenerbahçe played on the same night in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

Auto spell error that should have read we will probably be moved to Wednesday or Tuesday.

Some clear conflicting opinions here, someone has highlighted the UEFA rule of two games cannot be played in the same city on the same night however when challenged by the 2016 fenerbache game has given no insight.

Would be great for the club to comment on this sooner rather than later.

Skyscanner prices wait for no man :x

Someone quoted half the rule.

"21.03 If more than one club from the same city, or within a radius of 50km (31 miles) of each other, is taking part in any of the UEFA club competitions and/or plays in the same stadium, and if the association and the clubs concerned explicitly declare when entering the clubs that their matches cannot be played on the same day or on consecutive days, the UEFA administration may alter or confirm dates and kick-
off times..."

It's hard to see why they wouldn't have announced the change by now.

It’s a bit like saying Arsenal and Leyton Orient can’t play early round League Cup games on the same night. Just not an issue.

If you do wind up going you might be impressed. I've looked up their ground and was pleasantly surprised for a team I'd never heard of. Only small (17.5k) but fairly brand new and state of the art by the looks of it. The club itself is only quite new, historically speaking. Hope the fans are better than the norm over there though, shocking reputation in general as we all well know.

I saw they played a friendly last at VFB Stuttgart and got beat 3-1, with their goal coming in the 88th minute. I wonder if the club had a scout watch the game?. No details available of the teams players.
