Bournemouth have never made a loss in the Premier League. Not many clubs do given the huge increase in TV money

BURNLEY. Dyche comments about players coming and then foot aimed at Mawson. They thought that was happening. Blow.

Agree about Dunne.

The moaners would love it if we bought a player his age and with his little exeriance for £10m.

In the accounts filed so far they made a profit of £4m in 2015-16 and £14m in 2016-17. 2017-18 won't be filed for a while.

The evidence doesn't seem to support those who keep suggesting that Bournemouth are being bankrolled in the Premier League and that's why we can't compete with them.

I'm furious that another transfer window has come around, and the idiots who run our club still haven't put KRBFC in charge of it. It's obvious that he has so much more know-how, experience, and success than they do. Why can't they see it?

They do seem to pay very high basic wages so I would imagine their wage bill is quite high

To be honest Donald duck would do a better job than our European scout seemingly does (I might be unfairly putting the shambolic transfer window at his feet)

Their wage bill is pretty high (although whether that is from high basic or lower basic plus bonuses is debatable), but so is their revenue (which is very similar to ours), hence the decent profits.

I would suggest that Bournemouth's wage bill is higher than ours and their net spend in the years they have been in the Premier League and their last season in the Championship would be quite a lot higher than ours over the same period

I have no figures to substantiate this but I would be very surprised if it was not so

Just been on Sky, Fulham bid accepted for Mawson around £20M, they don't mess around it seems... Why didn't we just stump up the cash 2 months ago?

You would of thought we would of put the feelers out and asked if mawson fancied relocating to the north west before firming our interest up

If you believe Nixon and Dyche, it sounds like there was a fee agreed and he was coming here until Fulham stepped in and he decided he'd prefer to go there.

Not a lot we could have done really.

And all the other transfer windows. Even if this incomplete transfer window is to be written off as failure, the same people were in charge of the highly successful windows over the past few years.

So should we let them keep on ballsing things up because they used to be good at the job once?

I don't own a business but I'd imagine that sort of strategy is a dangerous one to say that least.

In general in football, every success is matched by an equivalent failure. It's pretty much zero-sum. So if you have a team that consistently, year on year, comes out on the right side of a zero-sum game, you don't sack them if for once they don't win.

We've had what, 13 transfer windows since Sean Dyche got here? Just compare where the club was when Dyche arrived with where we are now, and it's obvious how successful the transfer windows have been.

At what point is a failure deemed too big to simply write of as a numbers game?

If this failure to bring in players has effects that spread throughout the season and leads to relegation, hypothetically, is that still okay? To my mind that is a real possibility at the moment.

Logic says they must be.

Any club who finished below us last season must have had a poorer transfer window than us, otherwise they would have finished in a higher place.

It's about getting the right players, for the right positions. We've done that perfectly. Unless you think we should have paid far more for Nick Pope and JBG.

Fortunately expenditure isn't the only way to compete. The league would be pretty pointless if it were.

I can't agree that we have a poor squad of players. Even if you ignore the financial constraints, it is a fact that our squad of players was (under the best system of measuring football ability) a better squad than all but 6 of the clubs in England last year.

Not at all, I'm very much an advocate of not overspending but to do that you more often than not have to look further afield than the English market. I think we've had some gems for very little money but we've also missed out on players because our scouting is shocking. I would also add that we could be doing the best with what we have (it's conjecture from us all as we don't know absolute facts) or we could be seriously underachieving in the market because we don't have the right people.

Our squad of players has come here, to a man, during the transfer windows. The measure of transfer window success is how good the squad is. If the squad is excellent, than the transfer windows have also been excellent.

You said that none of our transfer windows has been particularly impressive. I suppose there could have been an implied "but taken as a whole they have been outstanding", but I didn't see it - I read it as saying that the last few years' transfer windows as a whole were unimpressive.

It's only like buying and selling a house-until contracts are exchanged and in football contracts signed you haven't bought/sold the house or got the player and this will never change. SD needs to understand that it is Rugby that was played by gentlemen whereas football is the gentleman's game played by idiots so unless the players are Masons the handshake means nothing

none of our transfer windows has been particularly impressive - ie, they've been more than decent but not outstanding. For example, the signings of Pope and JBG have been outstanding, Hendrick (probably through no fault of his own) less so. I'd give is a B for the majority - that's not to say we can't do better though ;)

What do people want from a transfer window?

To spend £30 million on a winger and goalkeeper for example - and finish 7th?
Or spend £3 million on a winger and goalkeeper (Pope & JBG) - and finish 7th?

We can't finish any higher than we have done, unless teams above us are in a bit of disarray, like Arsenal were last season, or when Leicester won the league.

It's almost as though the value of the player is more important to some and the importance of whether they fit into our team structure is secondary. For example, Lowton is now as important as Trippier was yet isn't as good going forward, but he fits the system perfectly.

Ability aside, that's why Dyche places as much emphasis on player character and whether they are able to follow instructions.

None of the current Fulham cbs would get in our 11 or possibly bench so you can see why they're not messing to get this deal done they need him more than us. Let's be real he wouldn't have got a sniff in our team until mee left.

Well, we managed to win five in a row WITHOUT Brady & Defour and Kevin Long was in the side so we don't need them all to be fit anyway.

Shame with Mawson, he'd have been a very good signing. Looked all done and dusted just under a week ago with the player having agreed everything. Then Fulham stepped in at the 11th hour and his (or was it his agent's?) head was turned.

I think being a London boy and Fulham's financial muscle may have been to much for us.

Another one to file under 'we had him in the building'.

How many is that now over the last 6 years?

That' a bit of a pisser. I hope thwy fail miserably and he ends up back i the Championship.

Not that I'm bitter of course.

But it is annoy8ng because for all our success last season we need to at the very least replace leavers ocer the last 2 seasons. (So CM, LS mid and CB)

And how many of those players have regretted not signing for us while their careers then stagnate? Bryson, Lansbury and even Dawson come to mind.
Their loss, convinced we'll finish above Fulham anyway.

So what? They were players we wanted that we didn’t manage to get over the line. I think the point he was making is why are we not sealing these deals earlier before other clubs jump in at the last minute and seem to seal it in a matter of days.
