Josh Windass
Few Rangers fans saying he is on his way to Burnley.
Left completely out of the match day squad today.
Literally no nothing about him, apart from he plays an attacking midfield position.

Re: Josh Windass
Accy Stanley boy.
Re: Josh Windass
From what I’ve seen of him, he just simply isn’t Premier League quality.

Re: Josh Windass
A player for the development squad. Not good enough top and bottom of it.
Re: Josh Windass
Careful boys, you'll find yourself on the Moaners 11.
Remember, we finished 7th and if Sean thinks he is good enough, then he is.

Re: Josh Windass
Already taking a key role in the moaners 11.
But windass hasn’t produced for Sevco in the TPL so how on earth is he good enough for the EPL? Would be better off going back to Accy to sit in the bench there.

Re: Josh Windass
If he went back to Accy he would not be on the bench. John C was unhappy when he left for Rangers

Maybe he should. Probably closer to his level.mdd2 wrote:If he went back to Accy he would not be on the bench. John C was unhappy when he left for Rangers

Accy are playing at a level higher now though. Also might have been something to do with the fee they received aswell.mdd2 wrote:If he went back to Accy he would not be on the bench. John C was unhappy when he left for Rangers
Re: Josh Windass
I'd assume he would have to sign for stoke before we could get the deal done? Fingers crossed on this one!

He’s also as thick as 2 short planks. He doesn’t like eggs but likes omelette apparently.

I'd take Chris Iwelumo back over Peter Crouch so any other signing possibilities are a blessing!

That’s concerning, given how Dyche recruited Barton.Right_winger wrote:He’s also as thick as 2 short planks. He doesn’t like eggs but likes omelette apparently.

Still a young lad, probably gonna come in as a squad player if it happens.

Another weird link.
Again, hopefully just papertalk.

Re: Josh Windass
Bagged 12 goals and 8 assists in the SPL playing all the way across the front (left wing, attacking mid, number 10, striker).
If we were being linked with Dembele for Celtic I reckon there'd be a lot of excitement, his record last season? 8 goals and 7 assists.
Doubt he'd be coming in as a starter but seems to me he'd be a quality option for depth across the attack.

Taking stats from the SPL is like taking stats from League 1/2

What about that statement doesn't detemine me as a football expert?dsr wrote:Not a football expert, then? Are you here for the political threads?
Crouch is not a player we need in our squad.
Re: Josh Windass
Lots of energy as for quality I really don't know.
Re: Josh Windass
Thinking that Iwelumo would be a better signing than Crouch. Crouch is a better player by far, partly because he hasn't retired and Iwelumo has. A football expert would know that.whiffa wrote:What about that statement doesn't detemine me as a football expert?

Re: Josh Windass
I wouldn't say he was any better a player - nor was I obviously suggesting we sign Iwelumo. Your comment was basically an insult to me, rather than explaining why you think Crouch would be a good signing.dsr wrote:Thinking that Iwelumo would be a better signing than Crouch. We have Wood and Vokes as two target men, put Barnes in a similar role at times - why would we need another target man?
My original post was supporting the signing of young Windass as a player in a possession that may be beneficial to the squad, whereas a further target man wouldn't be a priority.
Discuss football as an "expert", not as an ignorant so and so. This is a forum, not the playground... or somewhere people need to prove their intellect to have an opinion.
Re: Josh Windass
I wasn't saying Crouch would be a good signing - just that he would be a better signing than Iwelumo. You wouldn't find anyone in professional football that thinks Iwelumo would contribute to a Premier League team next season; Crouch scored 5 goals last season, mostly off the bench, and may still have something left.whiffa wrote:I wouldn't say he was any better a player - nor was I obviously suggesting we sign Iwelumo. Why would we need another target man? We quite possibly wouldn't. If Wood, Vokes and Barnes all stay fit, then Crouch may not get on. Are Wood, Vokes and Barnes going to stay fit? Not easy to say.
Re: Josh Windass
A valid response, thank you. For me, there has to be bigger priorities. You talk of goals off the bench, didn't Sam Vokes do the exact same thing last season? Would Crouch as a player and a personality add to the squad, absolutely. Is he what we need at this moment in time? I don't think so.dsr wrote:I wasn't saying Crouch would be a good signing - just that he would be a better signing than Iwelumo. I wasn't trying to hijack the Windass thread by talking about Crouch as there are other threads for that, I was responding to posters above who are criticising the lad for us potentially trying to sign him. I was saying he would be a much better target than Crouch and we should give the lad a chance.
Re: Josh Windass
Josh Windass is a good player and will always score a few goals. He would be a decent signing.

Re: Josh Windass
Its an odd link given hes not set the world alight in Scotland, and at 24 hes hardly the youngest.
But we need credible back up out wide. If Windass is lined up for that, so be it.

Re: Josh Windass
According to the Scottish Sun:
"The forward was outstanding for the Light Blues last season – scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances – despite managerial chaos which saw Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty sacked.
Last month the former Accrington Stanley man backed dad Dean’s claim that he has a £3million release clause in his Ibrox deal".
I expect the reporter has seen him in action a lot more than those people quick to write him off on here...

Re: Josh Windass
Windass has pace that's for sure, and that's what people are crying out for,so if Brady is unavailable for much of the first half of the season,at 3 million this would be a no-brainer,don't know about wages but would guess we can afford them surely,if not then we are in dire straits.

This being Peter Crouch that has scored 100 Premier League Goals and 22 international goals? So more Premier League and International goals than goals Iwelumo actually scored throughout his entire football career........An interesting view is that,

With 2 fit wingers and a decent player like windass available at £3m not a bad option.kendaldave wrote:According to the Scottish Sun:

However its making failing to secure Arfield on another contract look even more bizarre. A player who wouldnt have cost us a transfer fee or big wages, flexible in positions and one who knows our club, our system and expectations inside out.
Re: Josh Windass
I would imagine that the lure of playing in his homeland and being close to family played a big part in him moving to Rangers
And playing regularly as opposed to a bit part with us

No I was making a sarcastic point that a target man is not what we need, when we already have 2 or arguably 3.arise_sir_charge wrote:Can I just clarify, are you saying that Peter Crouch is no better of a player than Chris Iwelumo?
