Sounds promising. Either that or he is putting pressure on the board to deliver.

Sounds to me like the funds just aren't there for him to get his main targets, I'm sure he's just as frustrated as we are.

Reading between the lines of his recent interviews I get the impression he isn’t happy.

Exercising prudence, frugality, even, in a market in which we're quite obviously struggling to compete, but I didn't read that as Dyche putting pressure on the board. Throughout his time here he's virtually only ever practised the united front approach.

Same was said earlier in the window. I'd be ******* g stunned if we managed to make a signing for our first 11 that was for less than our record. It's the state of play at the minute.

IF by the end of the window we've only managed 2 of our four targets, then I'd imagine the board will use it as a learning experience and a harsh one at that. I'd expect to see more money made available for January and then us looking to get business done earlier the following closed season. Both Dyche and the board are still fairly fresh to the Premier League, so I'd expect them to change how they operate as the years progress.

Again, huge if involved here.

I’m sure we’ve had interviews where he’s spouted exactly the same guff earlier in the summer.

Getting bored of it now, come back when you’ve managed to ‘affect’ something.

I'm trying to crack the code word between Peter and Crouch. At first I thought you were using a popular swear word of 7 letters. However, I've counted and there is an 'f' and 9 stars. I'm therefore inclined to believe that this 10 letter word is actually Peter Crouch's secret middle name. Is it Florentino by any chance? That would add a serious continental element to our team that we haven't had since we lost George Boyd's hair.

Hoyle is very wealthy but hes no billionnaire.

I dont know what the wage equation is this summer. Not convinced theyve increased like transfer fees and im not sure the transfer fees themselves are beyond us.

Dyche sounds frustrated, but is partly in his gift to resolve the situation.

Said it before and will say it again.....Mike Garlick has no intention of spending any money and when we have to it will be as little as possible

Mawson gone for £20m which I personally believe we were prepared to pay but lost out because Fulham guaranteed him higher wages so the funds are there. I think we will get Dawson and Jay-Rod but may have to give them Wells as well in addition to cash to get both which is why I think Crouch is also likely as a replacement for Wells and will suffice for 1 season.

No they're not, what was our income for finishing 7th in the PL? We spent nothing in the windows last year (net). We should be rolling in the cash, £40M-50M should be there to spend without putting the club at risk.

Do people not get the fact that if you are relegated you get parachute payments....also you can sell the player o to recoup the fee and get rid of the wages

Spice,
I know next to nothing about football finance (unlike 99.9% of the posters on here :D ), but I'm guessing that the board intends to stick to a sustainable business model, this may exclude the "sugar-daddy" kind of chairman.

He’s not as rich as the guy at Brighton, but he’s rich enough to bankroll Huddersfield into the Prem, against the odds. I’d wager he has not only more disposable income than our Chairman, but also the will to spend it.

Huddersfield owner Dean Hoyle is estimated to be worth about $450 million whereas Garlick and our other chairmen are only estimated to be worth a combined $80 million so this is why those so called "smaller" clubs can outbid us.

Indeed. Anyone not taking this into account when comparing us with Huddersfield and Brighton is either ill informed or obtuse to reality.
He’s essentially Huddersfield’s Steve Gibson.

Yes because that’s worked really well for loads of clubs in the past hasn’t it. Do you actually know what a parachute does? It is designed to stop you hitting the floor at a million miles per hour.

Presume you're referring to wages, which also are not a problem.

With a Wage bill in excess of £70m to Jun'18 we are still to report a net profit of nearly £60m.

We're literally the smallest team in the PL in terms of ownership. We are absolutely nothing, and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way it's just how it is. Man City owners are worth 44 BILLION. Even Parish and Co at Palace are worth hundreds of millions even though Parish isn't overly wealthy.

Tony Bloom of Brighton is almost a billionaire twice over and Cardiff Vincent Tan is 800+ million.

Fulhams owner is worth over 7 BILLION.

We are nothing.

When have Huddersfield outbid us for a player? They have just invested wisely in a european scouting network which has enabled them to get a bit more value for their money.

Staggering profit figures Roy references there. Why would other clubs and agents not demand top dollar from us when they see figures like that ?

That’s a risky road to go down. For Clubs like us, Huddersfield, Brighton, Middlebrough eat al, I don’t think theirs many Foreign Investors beating our door down. And if they are they carry the large risk of being utter duck eggs, like the Venkys. Be careful what you wish for.

Either way, I think we may have reached a watershed moment for the Club here. If they are about to change the business model, then we could well be on a journey that could end up very bad for us. Though, admittedly, it could be fun while it lasts.

Because we are in the Premier League. We all know (or should do) that it isn't just all about today for our Chairman, and to a certain extent our Manager.

Missed Fulham spending 7 billion and Vincent Tan spending 800 million. Both have been pretty reasonable sk far in there transfer activities.

Im not debating those figures, but theyre small enough beer in the context of the Premier League revenues, particularly given weve had a lot more of those cash injections than Hudds have.

Just to clarify, there's no requirement for Garlick or any of the other directors to bankroll the Club.
