It should take around 1-1.5 hours by public transportation from Ataturk to the stadium. It's around 13 miles by car and normally that takes 60-70 Turkish liras by taxi (10-11 pounds) but I would suggest you be careful because taxi drivers will 100% try and rip you off.

Basaksehir and that area are the places where most conservative people live, so I doubt there are many places to get a beer and I do not know those neighborhoods very well either. I think most tourists stay at hotels around the Historical Peninsula, you can have a look at that area. It should take 1 hour to get there from the airport, and another 1.5 hours (by public transportation) from the Historical Peninsula to the stadium. The problem is that Basaksehir is in the middle of nowhere so it will take you at least 1 hour to go there if you stay in a civilized neighborhood.

I wonder how easy it will be to get a ticket for the home end as I guess they never sell out the 17K stadium if they only have a few thousand fanbase.

Just thinking if the worse case scenario is that I dont get a ticket in the Burnley end

How you getting from Salonika. This is a route I am looking at but a longer stay...

The only reason ive not yet booked is because I am unsure on logistics getting from there to Istanbul.

But if there are a few of us we should be able to do it!!!

Ticket details out. Complete joke. No general sale.

Second game I’ve been willing to travel to, where completely denied the chance of going.

Taksim square area seems to be where the bars are, ill be looking for a hotel there. Apparently the club are arranging a supporters meeting point.

Suppose they didn't give you a reason? Can't understand their logic here at all? Someone could have had a season ticket for 20 years, miss one year due to family/work commitments and the gist seems to be bugger off, we Don't need you anymore?

Out with Thomas Cook Wednesday 6.30am to Thessaloniki, Turkish Air 9.00am Thursday morning to Istanbul Attaturk, return to Thessaloniki Friday about 7.30am on Turkish Air, then Easy jet back to Manchester just about 12.30pm Friday afternoon.

Same boat as you Hibsclaret, x 2. My Dad and I are both willing to meet the costs and travel. Second game in a row we’ve been denied the chance to do so, despite more than a decade of contributing to the club every month. Not going to use the same words of criticism, but to say I’m gutted is an understatement.

Surely the club could open it up to people who have a clarets number and a certain amount of loyalty points as the final requirement - that way, if you have bought a certain amount of tickets in the past using your clarets number you'll have a chance of getting a ticket.

Club have tweeted it’s an official club decision to restrict it to season ticket holders.

They would rather send tickets back unsold, than offer them to any of their other fans.

Absolutely scandalous.

Unbelievable that the club are going to stop loyal fans travelling to support the team for some unknown "club decision" with no reasoning given whatsoever.

To those above who were interested. I have booked my flight now.

£150 return to Salonika. Flight out Weds Flight Back Sunday. £600 for 4 of us not too bad.

We land at midday Wednesday. Which gives us 36 hours to get to he stadium. SHOULD be easy enough especially if a few more jump on this route.

No because you have to show your passport when collecting the ticket in Istanbul and the ticket would be in your mates name and would have his passport details attached to it.

Yep. No-one is arguing against season ticket holders getting priority. But if there is even just one ticket left over at the end of sale, I can't have it despite being there outside the stadium in Istanbul.

The club would rather rip up tickets than give fans a chance, however slim, of using them.

Treat loyal supporters like this but the directors, staff etc can claim tickets and dish them out to any Tom, Dick and Harry.

Iam not against the loyalty points and have argued in its favour previously, but seems strange that you could have the correct number of points, but not get a ticket because you are not a season ticket holder. Hopefully some of these fans groups could take the issue up, though I appreciate it probably doesn't affect any of them directly. I've no personal interest as iam not going anyway, and as a season ticket holder it wouldn't affect me if I was, but it just defies logic

poohdini wrote:Hey everyone. I am a Turk living in Germany for education but will be back in Istanbul on Wednesday next week. I can try to help you if you have any questions. Regarding the flights, I do not know the prices for UK flights but your best bet is probably Pegasus Airlines. The stadium is really outside the city center and it roughly takes 1.5 hours from Taksim to there, for example. I do not know if you have been to Istanbul before but if you can stay for 2-3 days, I'm sure you will love the experience.

As I have said, I can answer if you have any questions about the transportation etc. I also would like to watch the game in away section but I do not know if I can find any tickets (since I am sure you all would like to be there) and that might be unfair since I am not a Burnley fan either. Anyway, I would be up for some booze before the game.

Lastly, I hope you kick their ass, we all hate Basaksehir.
I have booked flights to and from Thessaloniki- can you recommend anyone for transfers either to or from Istanbul?
