This might be the fella that CFC is looking for.....

€80 return and 'unlimited juice' to go in the spirits. Plus there's the additional promise of 'unlimited treats' once onboard.
Get the late departure from Salonika, and there and back for £200 inc flight! Plus saves on accomm x 2.
CFC you in? If so I am!
EDIT: Just to point out 2 things:
1) The bus company is called 'Crazy Holidays'
2) The travel Agency seems to be called the equivalent of Camel Cock
But it all seems above board... https://tinyurl.com/ybtqbb3o" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Who’s going to Istanbul IF we beat Aberdeen?
My cousin is a qualified light aircraft pilot.
He reckons that we can set off from RAF Woodvale, Southport, on Sunday and land in Turkey in time for Kick-Off.
We will enter many airspaces on the European Continent including France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Serbia and Romania, having to land in each of the countries a few times for comfort breaks and refuelling.
My cousin, on his p*ss poor amateur pilots licence is not allowed to fly at night because he doesn't have some instrument rating, therefore, our evenings will be spent on the back of the plane in some grotty aircraft hangar.
Fancy it ?
Cost will be around £4100. However, we will provide on board an all inclusive 'Beano' of alcoholic beverages including Vodka and Potatoes.
Should you incur any loss such as life or mental faculties on your trip I am in no way responsible and would suggest taking out some form of travel insurance prior to booking.
ABTA/ ATOL unregistered.
Only 1 seat left.

I doubt it will be expensive. I've do e similar routes and journeys before for under a tenner.
Either way I doubt it will be as much as 250. Which was the difference in flying to istanbul. And that was via Germany.

I rung avis and they do allow you to take it into Turkey but you need a green card which takes 5 days. Won't have time to get that. So will most likely take a bus. There are 3 a day apparently according to a mate of a mate in Athens.Blackrod wrote:Are you planning on hiring a car or going by bus and isn't it problematic hiring in Greece and taking it into Turkey ? We land at 12 noon Wednesday. Which gives us a day and a half to get there. 6 hours by car.

For those interested in the thessaloniki route I've found one of the bus companies that do the route.
Modern buses with aircon, TVs and WIFI. Two scheduled a day. 10am and 10pm.
Could be a good option

Re: Who’s going to Istanbul IF we beat Aberdeen?
Good morning everyone! I am looking to fly out wednesday night/Thursday morning and return first thing Friday morning (unfortunately working a night shift Friday night, and would need to be at Blackburn hospital by 20:30) has anyone got any suggestions as to the cheapest websites for flights. I've tried sky scanner but everything is coming up so expensive. Any help from my fellow clarets would be appreciated!

What times are you all landing there and how many buses do they run at once could be tricky if more than about 100 turn up looking for a single bus

I honestly dont know. Miles wise it's not that far. But driving out there who knows.ScottishBorderClaret wrote:Just out of interest how long is the journey and what is the cost?
In a taxi or car I'd guess at 6 hours.
In the bus I guess 10 hours overnight. Which if you can sleep on isn't bad.

Thats not the problem.Winstonswhite wrote:It’s a 20000 capacity stadium and there’ll be about 5k there.
The problem is ID checks when you get there. 500ish fans wont cause too much of a problem for the authorities to chexk everybody's ticket/ID. Ive done it for gigs bedore all over the place when Ive had the proper ticket and not. The smaller/less people the more chance you’ll be caught out.

There will be loads spare on the day. The clubare just ticking the uefa box by stipulating season ticket holders only.

If all else fails just pay in the home end. Surely won't be a problem looking at their average attendances, and don't seem the sort of club where you'll get any bother.

Re: Who’s going to Istanbul IF we beat Aberdeen?
Looks like I cannot go due to parenting duties, but if I was, I would buy a ticket for the home end and then once inside tell a security guard / steward / cop that you are in the wrong end and for safety reasons can you go in the away end and show some UK ID. they'd be daft to refuse that. If they do, just watch from the home end, nowt lost for 5 euros and at least 'you'll be there'

Lifelong Claret
Ripping up his passport is probably the last resort here.
Id sit down with him and make him listen seriously. Ask him his plans to/from istanbul airport to the ground. Picking up his ticket, where he is staying etc. Talk him through all the steps he’ll have to take whilst out there.
Im 100% sure he’ll be fine. They’ll be a meeting point on the day for Clarets. He’ll bumped into Clarets whilst picking up his ticket out there. If he’s forward and talks to other Clarets they’ll take him in and make sure he’s OK.

Anyone got a route from Thailand?
Doubt I will make it, but for all travelling clarets, be safe, be noisy, get us an away win and I will get the twix’s in for the next Euro away!
Hopefully the next away game the club have more time to plan and can get a plane booked
