Football boots costs

I've offered to pay for the boots of a 15 year old schoolboy Burnley FC player for next season. I'm told a pair of Nike or Addidas boots is around £150, which I don't mind paying. But this board seems to have knowledge/connections on maybe better deals. Or even contacts at the above firms who may be able to supply them to me a lot cheaper.

Are we that poor we can't afford to pay for kids boots? Bloody hell no wonder we haven't signed anyone,the club will be out with begging buckets next.

Get him a pair of Jomas or a pair on Nomis (if you can get hold of them).

At that price they'll be the better quality ones then you'll usually see in Sports Direct.

£150 isn't actually the top end for boots, the top end ones that most pros wear are nearer £250 and literally last 4 months. Have been lucky to be given quite a few pairs over the years and whilst quite comfortable they're not a patch on the old Adidas Predator in terms of quality.
I certainly wouldn't pay that money.

It's how many pairs a season you have to buy that will be the problem.

His boot size is 9/5. Thanks for the offer BfcCrazy, but I would prefer him to have new ones. They get their training kit supplied, but that doesn't include boots and shin pads (£25). I just wanted to give the young local lad help, in hopefully making the grade to be a professional at Burnley

I always had either addias world cups, puma king or Umbro specialli.

Wasn’t so keen on the world cups. I found the heel was too low and made my achillies sore.

Take him to tommy balls cheap price for the boots make sure you cut the string off um otherwise he will never have a good game

Reminds me of trips to Winfields, and when you've finally managed to untangle a pair from the shelf, you'd be waddling up and down the aisles to see if they fit, as they'd be tied together with elastic!

Get the good old fashioned boots: Adidas world cups or Kaiser 5's. Well made and last much longer than the flimsy boots these days, it's l about the flamboyant colours and designs and not about the functionality and comfort like it used to be.

Great boots but a very narrow fit. Puma King are ewual quality but perfect of your feet are a bit wider.

Puma King and Joma are the best boots ive ever had. And they both look the part compared to the crap they wear these days. Proper leather and protect your feet!

Diadora are also great.

Also make sure the studs are suitable for the pitches we use. Probably no need for proper studs these days.

The lad knows which boots he wants of either Nike or Adidas. When I offered to pay for them, I asked then met his dad to notify him of my offer (avoiding grooming comments). I just want to see the receipt for the boots when he gets them. I thought someone on here in retail would be in a position to help reduce my costs, as I might be buying him another pair, when needed.
