Don't think we would be after Dawson or mawson unless Ben or tarks was off. After all lots on here think we only need 3 cbs.

I think Ben can do a lot better for himself. Let's face it they'll have a new manager by January.

It makes sense. Everton bought one half last year, they now realise they need both halves to complete a good centre back pairing.

I'd rather Michael Keane was heading back to Burnley - and Ben Mee was signing a new contract to stay at t'Turf.

If Ben goes, of course, we will be short if we don't get 2 new CBs.

Has Keane played much for Everton?

As for HITC, the lady who is happy to help at Asda East Fife knows more about football transfers than any of the tripe on there. It is clickbait, nothing more.

Yes because the likelihood is that was a freak season and they will be back in the top 6

Liverpool Echo is the source though, which is usually pretty reliable.

Would like left sided centre back Ben Gibson if Ben Mee was to leave

Probably looking at about £30M for Gibson and wealthier clubs than us would probably be interested in him so very doubtful

Think this 1 has actually got legs, with Ben mee reluctant to commit & the toffees splashing the cash.

We are in a position where we simply can’t afford to sell. If we sell a player now and bank even more money the “market place’ will just get a all lot tougher.

But we would get something on top of the millions we already have and we’d then be desperate,, hard to stick to principals in that situation. I agree with our prudence to some extent but we are backing ourselves more and more into a corner with each passing day.

We sell Ben Mee and Craig Dawson’s fee and wages automatically go up even higher. Supply and Demand it’s simple. It’s toug, no it’s madness and I don’t particulary like it but if we want to survive we will have to join in at some point. We.cant afford to sell anybody until we sign somebody IMO.

That is a real worry. We could really have our pants pulled down should Mee go and we have a week, or even less, to get a replacement in.

The article suggests he would be about third choice for Everton after Mina (no chance) and Rojo (precious little chance), so first choice in effect.
Bye Ben, thanks for the memories.

Hence getting Dawson in before letting Mee go, then if Mee doesn’t go, we have cover. Personally, if his head has been turned (and I have no evidence to suggest it has) then I’d rather get shot now. I want players who want to be here. Ben Mee has been brilliant for us, but he can’t be that if he doesn’t want to be here

It’s only a small thing but Mee seems to be in a similar boat to his departed best mate at Burnley Scotty Arfield.
Maybe fans find it hard to understand but maybe he just feels ‘he’s been on the bus for so long’ as Arfield put it. And with Scotty leaving (despite an offer being laid down for him ages before he decided to ignore it) and Tripps before him, he perhaps just fancies trying his hand elsewhere. It’s only a short career after all, and all that. The likes of Lowton and Tarks - best mates from the more recent players to establish themselves - still clearly feel a big part of their future remains here.
That said, there’s absolute no way on God’s Earth we can let him bolt during this transfer window and I’m sure he’ll honour that.

This is what tickles me. I agree with your £30m for Gibson but he had one relegated season in the PL whilst Dawson has been at WBA since 2012 apart from a short loan out yet folk are baulking at £20m. And he covers RB whilst Gibson is a stopper, full stop.

Isn't Ben Mee our only naturally left sided centre back so to address the in balance on his departure we would surely have to sign a left sided centre back

Its difficult to see how we can improve on what we have achieved so far. I suspect 7th in the Prem is as good as is gets. Maybe we can have a good cup run, but with the priority always on maintaining Prem status, that seems unlikely. So, with this in mind, maybe Ben feels it’s better to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. He’s arguably at his peak, so may think he needs to capitalise while he can, which would be understandable.

This is why we should have paid wba what they wanted before now for dawson. Just takes someone to meet tarks release clause and we are screwed.
