Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Due to congregate en masse in the town centre. Apparently in excess of 5k coming down.
Hopefully they can enjoy it the same way we did. Top atmosphere. Have a few beers. Kick a few balls about and hang the flags up.
No doubt Burnley old bill will wade in from minute one though and spoil the party. Closely followed by the odd dickhead
Looking forward to our town seeing thousands of fans from around Europe over the coming months. It's great for the town.

Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
No mention here of the town centre being an agreed congregating area.
Further Information
For this game, there is no permission for banners or flags due to limited space. If supporters are planning to bring flags and banners to Burnley, then the suggestion is to leave them on the supporters buses prior to the match.
AFC are taking four Stewards (employed by the club) along with their Safety/Security Team and Supporter Liaison Officer. They will be able to assist the Dons support in and around the stadium on match day. Supporters can expect to be searched and we ask them to abide by steward’s instructions. This will be the same protocol as SPFL matches.
We would encourage all supporters to bring a form of photo ID in case of a random ticket check. Ticket checks will be made to ensure that tickets are in the possession of the actual buyers. Those found to have obtained tickets out with the agreed protocols will not be permitted entry.
The Ladbrokes Stand is shared between Aberdeen and Burnley fans with a double segregation fence. This will be stewarded and Policed. Any fans with tickets for the area next to the segregation fence will have to show their ticket each time they enter that area to prevent migration of fans from other areas. Please do not throw any objects onto the track or pitch.
Coach parking is initially on Harry Potts Way and closes about two and a half hours before kick-off. Any coaches arriving after the road closure will park in Belvidere Road, which is nearby. If you haven’t advised the club that you have a bus attending, please do so. If there are any important updates AFC or Lancashire Police will will pass on.
The Cricket Club at the rear of the stadium (opens at 12pm) and the Hollywood Star on Manchester Road are welcoming Aberdeen FC supporters. Please be guided by door staff and Police in other areas. AFC fans are advised to avoid Yorkshire Street’s licensed premises.

You seem intent on creating this supposed happy image of rival fans(many highly intoxicated because their image somehow demands it) marching along in harmony enjoying 'banter'. Add to that the self-congratulatory slap on the back for setting 'a great example' which I believe means behaving oneself which doesn't require a well done....... well not to adults anyway.SGr wrote:We’ve both set a great example from the first leg. Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Interesting that the predictions are that 5000 are coming. Which suggests either 2500 will be outside or will be looking for home end tickets.
The written advise is only suggesting they bring ID? So, if they have none it’s only a suggestion and not in any way enforceable. What would they be enforcing anyway. And they are bringing 4 of their own stewards. That should really help in a mass of 5000.
What happened to tickets checks at the station(s)? So, already we have a unique situation where the authorities and supporters already know 2500 Scots will be in Burnley for at least one night without a ticket for the match. When did that last happen in a cup match? Ah yes no need to remind me. Fortunately, as we are frequently being told. They are not Glaswegians so it’s all fine.
The local pubs and hotels will be benefitting starting tonight. I can’t see any more positives.

There was probably over a thousand Burnley fans in Aberdeen with no tickets, some of whom, are let’s just say ‘known to the Burnley police’, and there was no bother at all. Let them have their day out and leave them alone to enjoy itTouchline wrote:Interesting that the predictions are that 5000 are coming. This is going to be a tough game. I’m really looking forward to it. That’s the first time I’ve thought that before a cup game (apart from bastards last season) for a good few years.

Hope it carries on from the Aberdeen game and both sets of fans enjoy the evening.
Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Hope it's a great atmosphere in the town and on the Turf.
Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
British teams in Europe are often involved in trouble with rival supporters. The great example I was referring to was that there was a good atmosphere, and rivalry between the two sets of supporters was strong, but without it needing to spill over into physical confrontation. Additionally, I refer to how the police in Aberdeen handled the occasion. If you think I want a happy clapper type atmosphere, you couldn’t be much further wrong - I want it intimidating and loud - but I don’t want the image of the club/town tarnished by needless violence, heavyhanded police and fines from UEFA.Silkyskills1 wrote:You seem intent on creating this supposed happy image of rival fans(many highly intoxicated because their image somehow demands it) marching along in harmony enjoying 'banter'. I know a certain Mr Porter is out of prison, saw him a few months ago.
I’d be very surprised if something wasn’t planned.

Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Burnley fans were welcomed with open arms and good grace, to Aberdeen. The Aberdonians then created a ferocious level of all round the ground noise and support for their team
I would hope that the experience for them would be exactly the same, from all quarters.

I sincerely hope you're right Ian, but I've a feeling there will be some possible trouble/arrests at some stage. I hope I am wrong but Burnley is Burnley. I also hope the police are sensible with all supporters.

There will be flashpoints, probably starting tonight, but let's remember they are here for a party like we were in Aberdeen. If some get tickets in home areas, I am sure they will be aware that they need to be discreet or they could be made most unwelcome during the match. UTC

Echo what most have said just hope they get the same welcome that we got. On the Friday morning popped into a bar called “the spirit level” which had been open since 7am and the locals were all on shorts at 10am, couldn’t get anywhere more rough looking at the place and people but they were superb with us!! If they get the same reception should be a top day all round

I cringe when I read the posts attempting NOT to glorify our saddest period.
If a Scottish business decided to place an order with some of our fantastic engineering businesses for some some precision engineered components would the SS wait outside the factory and ambush the visitors ?
Muppets.

I hope they are afforded the same welcome and hospitality we were given last week, it was superb.
Burnley fans and Aberdeen fans trading songs and drinking together, just how it should be and then mutual respect after the game.

just to put a bit of balance on this. I'm sure you all got a fantastic meet a greet up in Aberdeen, and if i encounter any lost /reds i will surely help them find their way and try to have a pint with them, however when we were leaving the fan zone under the culvert, there were we a group of 6 lads in Aberdeen strips taunting everyone they could. Just trying to show that all clubs have their knob heads unfortunately.

Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Did they think the match was in Burnley? So you're seriously saying that there were 6 Aberdeen fans on Yorkshire Street with hundreds of Burnley fans around?ClaretAL wrote:just to put a bit of balance on this. Leisure, lets not scrape the bottom of the barrel mate. Yes there were plenty around to see it, on the way back from the Turf to the taxi rank. Like we have clarets fans up there they obviously have fans here.
Re: Aberdeen fans tomorrow
Well I've never heard of any and certainly never seen an Aberdeen shirt in Burnley, never mind 6! Maybe they'd misunderstood the draw and thought that they were away in the 1st leg!ClaretAL wrote:Leisure, lets not scrape the bottom of the barrel mate. To be fair Leisure you were in Aberdeen so didn't see the amount of pubs/clubs advertising the match here as they were all televising it. Please dont treat me as some idiotic troublemaker, I thought more of you to be honest!
