Is it me, or is apathy knocking at the door ?
New season almost here, and it definately isnt looking too good, injuries, no incoming, and apathy creeping in with europa..
There should be a frenzy of excitement by now, a sense that we are chomping at the bit, but it feels a little bit flat somehow.

It's not apathy but as mentioned on the other thread if we can't compete we accept the PL will not be sustainable or Garlick looks for investors / benefactors. Dyche can only do so much.

Unbelievable. Another thread of negativity. We finish 7th, get to play in Europe and just because we haven’t yet signed a major player, it’s doom doom doom.
I’m confident behind the scenes plenty is going on and we will make a major signing or two. When we do, I hope you all reread the dross you’ve been posting.
This is a great club, passionate owners and a fantastic manager. I’m sick of all the pathetic posts and threads. UTC!

I don't hear apathy knocking at the door.
But then again, apathy isn't going to knock at the door with any level of enthusiasm is it?
Makes it tricky to tell.

I don’t remember going into a season feeling this underwhelmed before. After all the achievements last season, to still not be in a position where we are willing to push on really does feel like we are hear to collect whatever we can get and just hope for the best.

Apathy on this message board and apathy around the club are two different things.
You''re (OP) getting them mixed up. I know a pile of folk who can't wait for tonight, and I'm gutted that I can't be there.

apathy
noun
lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern
synonyms: indifference, lack of interest, lack of enthusiasm, lack of concern, unconcern, uninterestedness, unresponsiveness, impassivity, passivity, passiveness, detachment, dispassion,
If some of our fans feel this way about Burnley in the position we are now then f-uck knows what words would describe them in years gone by.
I cannot remember ever going into a season feeling apathy. Excitement, despair, trepidation etc maybe - disinterested never.

If you want to be taken in by what you read on UTC and twitter then apathy is knocking on the door and we are sinking into a dark depression.
Sadly social media plays a big part today and the media pick up on it. Burnley fans unhappy etc blah blah blah.
In reality the % of posters on here represent a small part of the actual fan based that regularly attend games. There will be some who are totally oblivious to it all hot that is posted, tweeted etc, the lucky ones.
Anyone, hopefully the moderators will be braced for complete and utter meltdown should we lose to Aberdeen, or in fact lose to anyone whether it be Man City, Spurs, Chelsea etc.
The injuries to Defour, Pope, Brady and Barnes are all down to apathy too.
In true Clarets Mad style, man up and grow a pair.

Logged on just to like that post as it reflects my thoughts exactly. I have had nothing to say on the topic until such time as the windows slams firmly closed. We haven't lost any key players and we have key players coming back to fitness....... Heaton will be back between the sticks soon (followed by Pope 3 months later). People forget what happened in the opening 10 games last season - and that was with the team we have now.
I won't be upset if we don't sign anybody.

If you have apathy knocking on your door when we've finished 7th in the Premier League and with Turf Moor hosting a European tie tonight, heaven help some of you when we are not playing way above our standing. I can only assume some of you have totally unrealistic ideas on who we are and what we can achieve.

Re: Is it me, or is apathy knocking at the door ?
Yes but our approach to this season is exactly the same as the previous seasons, and that got us to 7th. Maybe, given their track record, we should have a little more faith in Sean and the board?Wile E Coyote wrote:"Finished 7th" but that was last season, some of you can't distinguish past from present.

When the window has closed, let’s see where we are then. In the meantime can everyone just calm down a bit?
Re: Is it me, or is apathy knocking at the door ?
Pretty much the same shape we were in in those long-ago days of May when we last season ended. We're still 7th in the table, or 4th if you look at the new year table; we still have all the important players from last season. I for one am not going to let my fear of what has not happened spoil my enjoyment of what has happened. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.Wile E Coyote wrote:"Finished 7th" but that was last season, some of you can't distinguish past from present.

Don't be influenced by some of the doom and gloom on here and social media.
Burnley are at home in Europe tonight. Read it out loud a couple of times. Did you ever imagine saying it? Enjoy the moment, it could be brief but so be it.

Wile E Coyote, I suspect you were probably posting the same doom and gloom before the start of last season. Maybe you should read your old posts and question if you were correct in your predictions.

Re: Is it me, or is apathy knocking at the door ?
I'm not apathetic but concerned
Concerned about the injury situation and the fact that our manager has seen fit to make his concerns about our lack of transfer deals public knowledge. Never a good sign. We all know that where cheque book diplomacy is concerned we cannot compete with most if not all Premier league teams and possibly a good number of Championship teams but where we can compete is team spirit. Time will tell if that spirit is still around

Re: Is it me, or is apathy knocking at the door ?
Can't comment on the forthcoming season because it hasn't started, but we go into it having finished 7th in the Premier League. That's surely a position we can't expect to achieve again but the apathy, or negativity I prefer to call it, is absolutely ridiculous. We are a small club in a hell of a big pond here but we remain in good shape and have some very good players returning from injury to add to that.Wile E Coyote wrote:"Finished 7th" but that was last season, some of you can't distinguish past from present.
