Wait untill the next transfer update, the presenter clicked on Swansea icon and said the proposed transfer of clucas to Burnley was in danger of collapse but did not give a reason

Hearing he's upped his wage demands at the final second, which has scuppered the deal. I seem to remember that happening not so long ago with another player.

Good means we need to be looking at better than Clucas. Got a cheek not so long ago he was scraping about in the GHA looking for a contract.FactualFrank wrote:Hearing he's upped his wage demands at the final second, which has scuppered the deal. Seems unlikely. He’s injured in the Championship. There won’t be a queue. He doesn’t have Alfie Mawson’s standing.FactualFrank wrote:Hearing he's upped his wage demands at the final second, which has scuppered the deal. I seem to remember that happening not so long ago with another player.

Just dropped below 7000 USD - I'd hold for now, support at 6200, resistance at 7200. Best to wait, if it breaks 7200, buy.

If he doesn’t want to sign, **** him. Let him stay in the championship and Swansea can pay his high wages.

The only justification for complications would be if, unlike the majority of the Swansea squad, he doesn't have a relegation clause. He might not be prepared to swap certainty for performance based reward. Pretty much anything else, and even in the above scenario, he can eff off for me.

Yep, he either wants to play for the team that just finished 7th in the Premier League and are in Europe, and let's be honest he's never going to get any higher than that, or he doesn't.Duffer_ wrote:The only justification for complications would be if, unlike the majority of the Swansea squad, he doesn't have a relegation clause. If he wants to play Premier League and no one else wants him, he says yes or No, if he doesn't like what's on offer move on.

OK as an Arfield replacement but bearing in mind that effectively means squad player not starter, Think we hold most (if not all) of the cards on this one. If we're after an effective, hard working CM/wide-player then Clucas hardly holds exclusive rights to that role. We might just as well move on and focus on another Championship standard player who's match-fit and could be in the squad on Sunday if required.

There is no news anywhere in the twittersphere corroborating the claims that the deal has hit a problem.

That bit I was just kidding about, and I can only go off what I've been hearing. It's when you hear the same thing from several different sources that are normally reliable, that you think, hmmm - there could be some truth in this.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Has he actually gone home or is it all conjecture at the moment?

POTTER COY ON CLUCAS
Swansea manager Graham Potter says he has not had an update on the future of Sam Clucas, who has been linked with a move to Burnley in recent weeks.
When asked about the midfielder, he said: "I've not heard anything."
Potter did say he needs a few through the door too, saying: "We need to improve the group and the team."

I think this will go through, their manager obviously has to stay tight lipped, im sure if he wanted Clucas to stay rather than gain the money to strengthen, he would have come out with the he is going nowhere speech.

Surely to Christ, he'd have known, even roughly, what he'd be getting salary-wise. (If, indeed, its money that's the problem)
Players talk, agents have details about clubs and what they pay, so he'd have known we don't exactly throw money around left, right and centre when it comes to wages. In fact, he'd have known for a while.
Sounds flimsy to me.

You don’t track a player for a year without knowing what their wage demands are or what sort of personality they are.
Could well be off, but wages or personality don’t seem particularly likely causes.
