£8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
I have to say - if that is our latest bid, what on Earth were we offering originally?

Rather sign Ryan Woods to be honest - Clucas does not excite me in the slightest
Re: £8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
We should go for Ryan Woods as that would confuse the hell out of some on here with Chris Wood.

I'm not a huge fan on what I have seen, but on paper he is a more than adequate replacement for Arfield and has similar traits (i.e, Premier League experience, capable of playing wide or centrally, late twenties etc).BOYSIE31 wrote:Rather sign Ryan Woods to be honest - Clucas does not excite me in the slightest

Good point. If all it took was an £8m bid, we must have started bizarrely low.jedi_master wrote:I have to say - if that is our latest bid, what on Earth were we offering originally?

That's how we do it, start going in with the asking price straight off the bat, you'll find yourselves paying silly fees every time.Murger wrote:Good point. If all it took was an £8m bid, we must have started bizarrely low.
The club squeeze every penny from the fan, at least we know it's not thrown around like confetti.

Maybe it's a cash up front offer...rather than, say, £12m structured over 3 years.jedi_master wrote:I have to say - if that is our latest bid, what on Earth were we offering originally?

That's a very good price, fair play to the board if we get this over the line.

Re: £8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
From BBC
Now I told you earlier that the Burnley manager Sean Dyche has been getting a little tetchy over a failure to bring in any new recruits this summer.
However, that may well be set to change, with the Sun reporting that the Clarets have had an £8m for Sam Clucas accepted by Swansea.
It's fair to say that Dyche is a long term admirer of the 27-year-old midfielder - he tried to sign him last summer but missed out.

Re: £8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
A typical Dyche signing. I mean that in a good way.
Not an exciting one. But a player that will fit in with our style, mentality, budget and system. Won't be too bad. And adds a bit of balance being left sided.

Re: £8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
No moans if this is cm back up. Judgement for many will be the quality of the nr 10. If we get Ben to sign up, I would be a little less concerned about a Dawson quality of cb, but I believe that we will do well to have tarks here in 12 months. So I would still prefer to get dawson now and even play 352, as to replace Tarks with like for like would be very challenging. Right-footed winger still needed.

Clucas must be the one everyone was on about when they said "I've been told we are signing a player, from a club, but i can't say anything until it's done, as my source has asked me to keep it quiet"
Glad they kept quiet though, as I think he will do well here.
Welcome to Burnley Mr Clucas

If this goes through, and if Ings goes to Palace, we could have hardly touched our summer budget yet. Would very much like Dawson and Jay to follow, and a keeper on loan until January. I won’t be delighted then, but I will be content.

Re: £8m bid for Clucas in - Nixon
Have to laugh at some on here. Moan about no transfers. We have a bid accepted and they moan that we didn't start with a higher bid.
I'd imagine if you asked this type to lend you a fiver of their own money they would tell you to get lost!
Reality checked required for some. I heard fans moaning about our performance vs Man City (h) last season, league 1 stuff this Burnley.....honestly.

Months without a signing just to bid for a player as unspeakably lower-mediocre as Sam Clucas. Jesus Christ.
Rip into me all you like but if he’s the best we can come up with we’ve had an absolute shocker. We need players who will improve the first team too.

Good replacement for Arfield
Can play a number of positions
Dyche wanted him last summer when Swansea signed him for 14m
PL experience
Will probably buy into the group mentality
Won't be on astronomical wages
Sensible signing if not exciting

Would be an excellent signing. Clucas looked awesome when he first went to Swansea but seemed to get dragged down by a poor team. Think he would become a great signing under Dyche management. Just hope its not FAKE NEWS. We get a lot of that in America
