He has not actually signed yet or pulled on a claret or black jersey and he's already been written off.

Only on Clarets Mad or UTC.

Don't know much about him really and in that way he fits well into the type of unsung player the manager seems to like e.g. Lowton, Ward, Gudmundsson, Westwood, all of whom have performed well for the club.

Sam Clucas ..... signed by Steve Bruce when Stan Ternent was Chief Recruitment Officer for Hull City in 2015 ...pursued by Sean Dyche, the manager who took Burnley FC to 7th in the Premier League ...

I suspect these three Gents know considerably more than us when it comes to spotting " a player " !! I'll trust their judgment, if it's all the same to you !!

Who did you expect to sign as a CM then,Paul Pogba  if we get this deal over the line for 8 million decent buy at last.

I understand that the deal is currently being held up to enable Clucas's agent to check if Fulham want him before its too late.

Interesting. I remember ClaretTony saying “who did you expect? Ronaldo?” when I complained about the Bamford signing. Seems to be another catchphrase on here.

I dont get it. All pre season we have been told by posters that personal terms are usually agreed before bids for players even go in. Yet with Clucas we have a bid accepted yet personal terms could be an issue. Not seen this very often and somehow think we have put the bid in knowing he wont come.

Depends on the final price. For a combined outlay of £40m+ I would be dissapointed. Nobody in that bunch will get us more goals than we are currently scoring with what we have. Nobody that we can develop and turn a profit on and relatively high prices paid for all of them. My biggest concern is that they will further bolster our prime time age contingent, happy to play out their days here and then we move them on for a pittance or release them of a free.

An expensive stay as we are window with little scope for future progression in playing terms or financial gain. Ticks the box for trying to stay in the EPL, which is very important, but it lacks any vision beyond that.

I didn't see much in that interview to classify him as a Burnley player. He strikes me as being a weak willed confidence player. Obviously sees himself as a central midfielder and not a winger. His agent has bagged him some good moves that have taken him up to a level matching his talent and beyond.

Okay body for the bench who could take some of the undeserved critical weight off Hendrick. The fact that Swansea are willing to move him on so they can re-invest the funds in Ryan Woods is a very good indicator of their opinion of him as a central midfielder. Then again, they were very wrong about Cork.

His entire career seems to have been built around securing a new move, playing for a year or maybe two, only for the club to sell him on after getting a better idea of what he can do. £8m is on the high side of his true valuation, but it could have been far worse when you consider he is one of the few names on our "list" and it is very late in the window.

I think the majority of Swansea fans will be happy with this one. He couldn't cut it as a central midfielder for them last season and they have arguably brought in better options for the left wing. The fact that they paid such a large fee for him pretty much guaranteed him a starting nod last year. Now that they have Celina, McKay and Montero he would have to fight for a position if he stayed, possibly falling down the pecking order into obscurity.

Fingers crossed we can work another miracle and we are the club that turns him from an average player into something better. I still think Bryan or Zuber would have been much better all round options for the left wing, hey ho and on we go.

On the upside he is probably better than nothing, we will need more bodies, and £8m is significantly less than the £12m we were rumoured to be considering earlier in the window. More importantly it might put an end to some of the out of character whining that has come from Sean in the last couple of days. His honesty in interviews is always appreciated, along with a realistic outlook, but a defeatist attitude isn't.

The downside is that Clucas will be with us rain or shine. He won't move again if we sign him up for 3 or 4 years and unless his playing performance improves nobody will be trying to poach him.

Slightly harsh and overly critical?

Maybe, but I'm having my say early on this one because if he signs I will give him my full support him as soon as he puts on the shirt. And support will be very important for him, because he seems to fold like a cheap deck chair and perform poorly when he isn't feeling the love.

Tyrone Marshal of the LT is reporting that wages are likely to be a sticking point. Most likely using us to advertise he can be had for £8 million so someone else will come him for him. Some Championship teams pay a lot more than us.

Well if he'd prefer the championship over a prem club with a nigh on guarantee of European football because of a bit more cash, he doesn't warrant the character stamp of approval that we adhere to.

I'd be pleased with this, good age and versatile like arfield. Didn't do much at Swansea but he was excellent for Hull.

If anyone can get the lad playing to his capabilities again, it's Sean Dyche.
