All will become clear at 6.45 when the West Brom team is announced for tonights match - if he is staying he will be playing but if we have an acceptable bid he'll be either on the bench or not included

He could be a lot cheaper in the Winter window if we are still interested.mkmel wrote:According to the Mail Jay Rodriguez has pleaded with Darren Moore to let him join Burnley

Our next bid should be £14m if it is made today, £12m tomorrow and £10m on Thursday. I don't think that tactic has been tried by a club before. Turn the tables, seize the initiative and take the fight to them, possibly setting a new precedent for dealing with over the top requests.
When you look at the recent Rondon/Gayle transfer it is obvious they are strapped for cash. Allowing them to put us through the ringer to squeeze out an inflated transfer fee is bordering on ridiculous. And if Jay is pleading to come to Burnley it means all of those rumours about other clubs being interested are twaddle.
Jay needs to start pleading with them to drop their price and start being reasonable.

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
My guess is Vydra is insurance here in case we cannot land Jay.
I think the club plan is
1. Buy Gibson Hart Jayrod.
2. If Jayrod not coming get Vydra
3. If Vydra and Jayrod not coming get Bolassie
4. If Vokes gets sold then count the small change to see if we can get two out of three

Not necessarily. It depends on their options. West Brom might need him.ElectroClaret wrote:

Not really. If he doesn’t play it implies we’re close to a deal. If he does, we aren’t. Doesn’t mean a deal can’t ge done before Thursday.

Article I read say he's trying to remain as professional as possible so has not handed in an official transfer request and will play in games if selected.Reecey1987 wrote:Surely if jay rod has pleaded with darren moore for a move he plays no part tonight against forest

He'll put in a half arsed performance, just to make sure he doesn't get injured.

If every representative of Burnley Football club is in Turkey from tomorrow then something has gone seriously wrong.Granny WeatherWax wrote:Maybe. But spurs aren’t in turkey tomorrow. We will see.
Yes a lot of the board will want to see their club in Europe but the bigger picture is to strengthen the playing squad and the club. Absolute farce if they do all go over and abandon ongoing deals etc, which I don’t believe will be the case

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
No doubt WBA have been preparing for this game and for us to put in a last minute bid, it doesn't surprise me that he is playing still.
Nothing stopping him driving 90 mins up the M6 after the game and having medical in morning and us sorting paperwork out - if everyone is in turkey, didn't we fly cork out to Ireland when we signed him?
Whether it happens or not, I don't think you can make that decision just based on him playing tonight...

Doesn't seem right that he'd be signing for us tomorrow or Thursday if he's playing for West Brom tonight.
They must be pretty confident that we're not coming up with an acceptable offer.

Sky still reporting an £18m bid will go in later Tuesday. So after the match. Possibly Darren Moore told us I need him tonight as I haven’t brought anybody in to replace him.

They've just signed Dwight Gayle? He's on the bench, as is Hal Robson-Kanu.piston broke wrote:Sky still reporting an £18m bid will go in later Tuesday. So after the match. Possibly Darren Moore told us I need him tonight as I haven’t brought anybody in to replace him.
Plenty of cover who could've played instead.

Gayle was in as Rondon was out. R-K isn’t JRod. They’ll want someone better, which £18m should get them.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:They've just signed Dwight Gayle? He's on the bench, as is Hal Robson-Kanu.

I think this is dead. WBA board would not risk an 18 million pound bank transfer on an injury tonight.... You would think.

Probably because they want £20 million and are going to remain stubborn until they get it (or more likely don't).Longsider wrote:I think this is dead. WBA board would not risk an 18 million pound bank transfer on an injury tonight.... You would think.

West Brom fans said he was awful at weekend.
Just seems odd to risk someone of that value for one game when you've got other strikers fit and available.
