Re: New bid for Jay Rod
Rumour I heard was he was offered to Burnley last summer but we were not interested.
Re: New bid for Jay Rod
Fair comment..just hard to tell his potential after that injury....tiger76 wrote:But we have Vydra as a no 10,if we have to choose between Jay and Bolasie,i'd tend to favour the latter as a more pressing concern.
Wages could be an issue but if we save 2-3 million on the transfer, this could go towards a decent signing on fee for Yannick.
ps Wood out with a bite..wtf..from his girl friend!!?? Hes out enough without freak events adding to the mix...

SSN wording now changed....
We understand they are still interested but fee may still be an issue - wish they'd make their mind up

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good moan shall we. Jay didn’t want to move. We needed the money and he was very much pushed out of the door, being told we’d be knackered if he didnt leave. Wasn’t really given the option but ended up being a cracking move for him, until the terrible injuries.KRBFC wrote:Boo hoo, poor Rodriguez, he really cares about us doesn't he? Jumped ship at the first opportunity to Southampton then rejected us last year to join WBA. Now he's been relegated and had his wages cut, he's suddenly desperate to return home. One of our own? my arse.
Last summer we did show an interest. Jay however signed new deal at Saints when got his England calls and was on a darn good wage. We couldn’t and weren’t prepared to get anywhere near it, WBA were. Just because he’s a Burnley lad doesn’t mean he should have come to us on a fraction of what he was and could earn elsewhere.
We are now in a position and willing to pay him a decent wage, still nothing like he was on at WBA and saints though. He wants prem football understandably. Can’t see any issue with how he’s conducted himself.
Just because he’s a Burnley lad does that mean he should have been with us for his whole career and been taken advantage of being paid less than he deserves, just because he’s ‘one of our own ‘. Spurs were trying that trick with Kane and trying to take advantage of his loyalty to Spurs. Saw sense when realised the likes of Real Madrid could easily come in and he’d be off like all their prize assets in the past.

I find it amazing that someone take another persons career choice so personally. What has Burnley Football Club, Jay Rodriguez, Southampton or West Brom ever done for you to make you type in CAPS?

You say ''don't let facts get in the way'' then you start waffling a pile of conspiracies and pretending the information is factual. Btw, Kane isn't one of Spurs' own, he's an Arsenal fanMonkeyThief wrote:Don’t let facts get in the way of a good moan shall we. Jay didn’t want to move. Re: New bid for Jay Rod
The fact that we are down to seventeen players before the season has started should hold some influence over this situation. Sign Rodriguez and keep Vokes at all costs. We may be being held to ransom but don’t seem to have a lot of options. The idea of signing Deeney and Crouch is too much of a nightmare to contemplate.

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
People want “One of our own” back over Vokes who could be argued is more “of our own” than Jay Rod .....
Vokes has got us to where we are and arguably even the reason we’re in Turkey tomorrow with that strike at Aberdeen.
Jay wanted more money til he’s had a big wage drop for playing in a relegated team last season ....... but he is suddenly worth 8/10 million more than he was a year ago after being shown to be prone to injuries and trying to rebuild the reputation he was signed at 12 million for.

If i had to choose between signing Jay, or the pacy winger/striker that we really need, then it would be the winger. Antonio, Baloasie or Ayew would be great.

I like him. Nice player.
Think I'm in the minority here but I have a preference for other options. Certainly don't want to see Vokes leave.

Probably another sad act pretending to be ITK to strangers on Twitter. I hope I'm proved wrong.
If you can't see the image the tweet was:

Jay Rodriguez is set to have a medical with Burnley after West Brom accepted an undisclosed fee from the Lancashire club
Rodriguez is said to be looking forward to reuniting wit his family “back home”

The more I think about it, the more I'd rather keep Sam. Although JR as well
would be brilliant.
But twenty million would be a poor deal.

£20 million for a 1 in 4 striker wouldn't seem to represent good value.
