Re: New bid for Jay Rod
Trying to do business with West Brom is a total waste of time. Jay would have been a helpful, yet hardly defining, signing. Would expect spuds fans to be massively underwhelmed if true.

The money we are wasting on Hart should have been added to the Jay Rod offer, but that’s just my opinion

Anybody can play in goal you just have to jump around a lot and throw your arms out, if the opposition score you blame the defence

BURNLEY BACK IN J-ROD HUNT
Sky Sports News understands Burnley will make an improved £18m offer to West Brom for striker Jay Rodriguez later today.
Sean Dyche is becoming increasingly frustrated by the situation and wants a new striker in before the deadline - it's thought Rodriguez is keen on a move back to the Premier League in his home town, but is prepared to stay and try to get Albion back into the top division if a deal can’t be done.

I’m really not sure where Rodriguez fits into how we play.

Exceptional player who will gain another 10% just by putting on our shirt. He can play right across the front line and tuck in behind like Frank Lampard.Long Time Lurker wrote:At £18m stay where you are or go somewhere else!

I disagree I think he’s ideal for how we play given how good he is in the air. Plus he can play all
Across the front line. Would be a good foil for Wood IMO

Jay would knit the midfield and attack together perfectly. He is completely different to what we have got.

People need to get over Jay Rod, he wasn’t brilliant first time round. If he wasn’t from Burnley these conversations would never happen.

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
If we are looking at Vydra for around £10m or less that extra £8m is the left winger or centre midfielder we could use.
Adding it all up (£15m for Gibson, £4m for Hart and £18m for Jay Rod) that would come to £37m.
I suspect that would bring an end to our buying for this window and probably the next, unless we sell Vokes.
£18m is a fee of £12m for the player and £6m for the "one of our own" sentimentality premium.

Ffs £18m is a massive overspend. Vydra better value for money, younger.

The Sky talk of "expecting to make a bid later today" sounds like agents leaking this to start a bidding war to me.
How on earth do they know? Have they intercepted the fax machine?

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
In that case lets sell WBA one of our shirts so he can wear it when he is playing for them, because he did sweet f**ck all in their opening day match against Bolton, despite them having 75% possession.IanMcL wrote:Exceptional player who will gain another 10% just by putting on our shirt. I think £1m is a fair price for a magic 10% shirt.

Vydra medical tomorrow according to reports and an 18 million quid bid for Rodriguez will be accepted by West Brom.
Sounds like it's not a case of either or but a case of getting both

Some monies leftover from last seasons transfer kitty sat 15m, 18m + on what we thought we'd get by staying up...a rough guide would suggest we could have upto 35 million before we touch our kitty from this season. We seriously need to put together not just an elven, but a bench that will make us more competitive.....spend the money for goodness sake.

As exciting as this is, when you add Bolasie in too, is nobody else confused about how overloaded we are?THEWELLERNUT70 wrote:Vydra medical tomorrow according to reports and an 18 million quid bid for Rodriguez will be accepted by West Brom.

Even with Walters and Wells (you would assume) about to depart on loan, we still would seem overloaded to me?

Maybe Vokes is more closer to the exit door than we know or something. You would have to guess Walters and Wells are imminently leaving at least, which is good too.

Re: New bid for Jay Rod
Hopefully Vokes is staying, we would have real competition and options then, also a bit of rotation will be needed if we progress in the Europa.
When you tak about being overloaded, I think it’s fair to say that players like Lennon and Bolasie have got and cold spells, so I’d say having Brady, Bolasie, Lennon and JBG along with Jay who can play wide left, would be fantastic options. Not forgetting Vydra too obviously , I’d like to see Wells and Walters leave to free the wage budget up a tad. But Vokes to leave is a definite
NO from me!
Wood is top injury prone to rely on for a full season in my opinion. Keep vokesy!

Oh someone will moan that we have then overspent and we are trying to buy success and the future of the club is at stake. They will likely be the same ones that were bemoaning no activity a few days ago. The money is not an issue, the board aren't stupid, if we spend 60 million it will be because we can afford it.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:If we get Rodriguez, Bolasie and Vydra, We'll of spent over £60m.

amusing terminology isn't it; pleading with the boss to be allowed to join burnley sounds very much like a transfer request.
