Now West Brom have some big thinking to do....what are they going to do with Dawson?
He doesn’t want to be there and they may have priced him out of a move. Upset player causing tension inside the club????

good if true, we can sell him to Everton next season for 60 million

I wont believe it until CT has the article up, but if true it is a fantastic bit of business.

If this is true i think its a great signing. I think hes better than Mawson. He has been a key plank in a very tight Boro defence and is skip too.

Re: Ben Gibson
Reading Boro forums the fans seem to suggest his form has nosedived badly in the last 18 months or so and they seem to want rid. If this is the case, Dyche could be the man,

I thought there's not a chance we'd get him for 12 million. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Re: Ben Gibson
I’d still be all over him at £17mil. A CB as good as our other two first choice players and is a left footer which means we can avoid playing players out of position if Ben Mee gets injured.

£17m would still be a good price for a highly rated 25 year old English CB. Let's get Clucas, Gibson and Jay Rod in time Istanbul #options

Re: Ben Gibson
I think Mawson is rated as more of a footballer than Gibson. And footballing centre halves are all the rage.
Gibson blamed for a few goals and penalties conceded in the Championship last season.

A lot of Boro fans saying 12 million is a fair price. Ready to cash in on him. Strange considering he's the captain and a bit of a Boro hero. Apparently he had a very average season last year?
Re: Ben Gibson
He was outstanding for Boro in the promotion 1-1 at the Turf.

I'm not one to complain about how we go about our business but it's a risky strategy, especially at this stage in the window.

Re: Ben Gibson
Let's face it, if Everton come in for him at the last minute, he will go there. That's not the fault of anyone at Burnley FC. We try to keep our business quiet, but if agents let it be known that Boro are prepared to let him go at a certain price and that alerts other clubs, there's nothing we can do about it.

Re: Ben Gibson
Completely agree and if it were to happen at the start of July, we'd probably just be mildly miffed about it. When it happens less than a week before the window slams shutTM it leaves us worrying if we will miss out on everyone.

Re: Ben Gibson
Tony Pulis this morning in Middlesbrough's pre-match press conference.
"Ben has been a very good player for this club. If he has the opportunity to go to the Premier League then that's brilliant for Ben. What has got to happen is this football club can get the best deal we possibly can.
"Good players move on and they move on to bigger clubs. We'd love to say it's not going to happen and we can keep the Premier League clubs away from our players but if they get the chance everybody in profession or in their right mind wants to play at the top level.
"If Ben gets opportunity, and I'm not sure whether negotiations are, he seriously has to think about it. I'm, talking about Ben as person.
Sean has rung me up, he's been very honest with approach. Players will know through agents, through other clubs, what's going on.
"It’s not a case of them being shot on at the last minute. Ben has time to think about it, he could turn around and say no I want to stay, which would be fantastic."

We can go through all the negotiation and everything, and if the agent then goes to Everton (or is already in touch with Everton) and tells them what the deal is and how much they need to pay to gazump it, there's nothing we can do. And agreeing it a month earlier wouldn't have helped in that case.

Does sound like Pulis is pushing him to sign for us. I would imagine Pulis would rather him sign for us with a manager like SD than certain other clubs

Re: Ben Gibson
That's exactly what happened with Mawson last week. The whole deal had been agreed and then the agent did his work.dsr wrote:We can go through all the negotiation and everything, and if the agent then goes to Everton (or is already in touch with Everton) and tells them what the deal is and how much they need to pay to gazump it, there's nothing we can do. Re: Ben Gibson
I’m sure the Boro faithful will be delighted to hear Burnley being regarded as a bigger club. Lol.
That Michael Keane equaliser in the Championship run-in just got bigger.
On another note, Pulis is clearly happy to dispense with him, and he knows a bit about centre-halves. I wonder if it has something to do with his long contract. Or whether it just frees some money up for him to spend elsewhere.

Re: Ben Gibson
They have quality central defenders coming out of their ears including 2 very highly rated young players who the big clubs are keeping a close eye on so he probably sees it as freeing up cash for other more important positions. On another note, Pulis is clearly happy to dispense with him, and he knows a bit about centre-halves.
