Barnes the difference
His first touch and lay offs as good as it gets!
What ever the performance and what others think he is our number one centre forward

Said it in the line up thread, he did more on sunday against the frogs than what wood and vokes did over the last two games

Re: Barnes the difference
I've said this before. You've got to love a player like Ash who obviously works really hard at improving his game

Re: Barnes the difference
Took a neat penalty - and it's a long time since we could say that of any Burnley player.

Re: Barnes the difference
Thought he was still injured, wonder why he didn't start with wood last week it was our best team by far last year
Re: Barnes the difference
I think we all know he’s our best striker by far. I think Dyche knows that, hence only a cameo in these gsmes

Re: Barnes the difference
I'd agree he's our main man up front, unfortunately SD prefers Wood and it is close between them. Vokes number 3.

Re: Barnes the difference
Should start every game
just need to find the best partner for him m last season was wood
they were making a good partnership. Vokes and Barnes have never done well together for me

Re: Barnes the difference
I thought he was way below par. Vokes is outstanding. That guy could hold up a runaway train

Re: Barnes the difference
Barnes is brilliant! Must be a nightmare to play against! Good to see McNeil get some game time and experience, Dyche made a point in saying that on BT in his post match interview

Re: Barnes the difference
Some of his quick turns and dummy runs were really good. He gave that centre half a nightmare whenever the ball came over the top.

£450,000 as well. So think on Aberdeen fans and every Scottish commentator and journalist.

Barnes the BEAST
Re: Barnes the difference
He's a menace but he also has an amazing eye for goal. What a player we have and I'm sure he'll play a big part this season

Re: Barnes the difference
Both games looked perfect for Barnes.
Re: Barnes the difference
The last 18 months has seen a dramatic improvement in Ashley. He can rough it if necessary but he has good touches and a good footballing brain. A real.legend now is our Ash.

Love Ashley, his attitude is all I ask for. Gives everything and if others think he's not good enough I don't care

Re: Barnes the difference
Did make a difference tonight although Taylor made a bigger one. Disagree he is our best goal scorer though. Wood has a far better goals per minute ratio than Barnes which is probably why Dyche seems to prefer him. Barnes 9 PL goals in 2159 minutes last season and 0 assists. Wood 10 goals in 1634 minutues and 1 assist. Wood had 1 assist last season to Barnes 0 so not like Ash is getting loads more assists either. Could argue that Barnes has a better all round game I guess.
Re: Barnes the difference
Winding up the Aberdeen fans after Cork scored was my particular highlight, good to see shithousery isn't dead.

Re: Barnes the difference
I always think we look more of an attacking force when we play Wood up front as the target man with Barnes playing more in the number 10 role behind him. We just look more balanced as a team with them two playing up front.

Re: Barnes the difference
Last season we easily looked our best playing 4-5-1 with Wood up top and Barnes and Vokes on the bench. We look better when we switch to 4-4-2 during a game than when we play it from the startVino blanco wrote:I always think we look more of an attacking force when we play Wood up front as the target man with Barnes playing more in the number 10 role behind him. Re: Barnes the difference
I have not been a fan of Ashley Barnes for a while, primarily due to his desire to fall over, Premier League style, on every occasion he gets the ball, looking for a foul. The ref last night waved them away and Ash realised fairly quickly he was wasting his time with Plan A. He started well and just got better. When he cuts out the falling over and focuses on Plan B, he is a cracking centre forward and he definitely made a big difference last night.
