Charlie Taylor

Post by RVclaret » Thu Aug 02, 2018 11:12 pm

Really want to see him starting this season. Didn’t deserve to be dropped last season IMO.

Was only on the pitch for 10 minutes tonight and he put in two outstanding balls with one of them being an assist.

Ward has been great for us but time for Charlie to step up.

Yeah he has an unbelievable left peg on him, if he could just develop his right foot a tad he'd be quality!

Taylor and Mcneil both made a massive difference when they came on tonight, and without being to critical both Lennon and Ward looked miles off the pace tonight.

Didn't put a foot wrong when in the team, but we never won when he was in it.

Has great potential - really liked the look of the left side with Taylor and McNeil, against a tiring team granted but both players can look after the ball.

Lennon was off his best but Ward was OK until he got his knee clattered just before HT.

Had a good game tonight, however Ward deserved his place last season when he came back in the team.

Always see it with a new fullback in the team, rightfully so they concentrate on defending for the first few games. Problem is we rely on them contributing to supporting the attack’s, Ward did that better than Taylor when he got back in.

Also a big fan of Charlie Taylor but Ward is a better defender than him and that's why he starts ahead of him

Did more going forward than Lowton and Ward put together.

He played well but he was up against opposition who had already run their socks off for 90 mins before his introduction.

Nice from him and McNeil but not reading too much into it

I don't think it's a given that Ward is our best left back anymore. His best years are definitely behind him, whereas Taylor will only improve.

Although he may “not have put a foot wrong” last season when Ward came back in it illustrated how good Ward is

Ward was immense last season, Taylor is hot on his heals and did himself the power of good against Aberdeen for sure

I can see Ward been gradually phased out during the season.

Excellent last night, don’t think it will be long before he becomes our first choice full back.

There was a time when we struggled to find one decent left back, never mind two!

Was delighted when we signed him from Leeds. Still a lot to learn and agree with above, that at Premier League level, Wardy has that little bit more defensively. Taylor offers great balance and a huge threat going forward though. Lovely ball carrier.

Made a big difference when he came on. Great left peg but at the moment Watd is the better defender and consistent. Lucky to have both and in time he will be first choice.

All the Leeds fans I speak to on the dark side of the Pennines have consistently said it was a bigger loss when Charlie Taylor left for us rather than Chris Wood. Talyor's belting crosses were game changers. We saw that first hand last night.

I like Wardy but I think Charlie T brings more attacking options down that left hand side.

It's a really hard choice, and I don't envy SD.
Like everyone we want to see Taylor regularly, he has a lot about him, and a lot better delivery than most of our other players, JBG excepted. But how can you drop Ward, who is a real lion on the pitch , and puts his body on the line so many times.
It's a shame for either of them to be on the bench. Chasing a game we need Taylor, defending a game we need Ward.

He would be my left back this season. Did really well last season against very tough opposition. Just look at who we played while he was in the team.
Ward did well when he first come back but waned at the back end of the season as did the rest of the team.
