I would love us to sign Troy Deeney but there's no way we'd offer him a 5-year deal.

Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
God no. I know I said I wanted players but not Deeney. We need somebody with speed.
Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
Won't he make a good partner for Crouch?
Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
No, no and no again !!!!
Is he an improvement on Vokes or Barnes? Not sure, looked overweight and unfit on t'Turf last season.

They will probably throw Andre Gray in for free as well !!!
We could then sell him on to Everton.

A five year deal until 35 years of age suggests we are looking at being in the Conference by 2023.

Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
I like Deeney, and Dyche has wanted him at Burnley for a long time.
My concern is that he is another battering ram type and unless it's in addition to a Rodriguez type (i.e, someone with a bit of guile and creativity) I feel it's not going to make a sufficient change to our options.
It could of course though be as a replacement for Vokes who has been linked with a move and be in ADDITION to the continued hunt for Jay Rod.

Thank the lord!! Not the type of player or person we need. Ashley Barnes is a lovable rogue, Troy Deeney is just a ****!Grumps wrote:Bid rejected

4 strikers all the same, if we are in a game in which our direct style of play isn't working then our other strikers offer nothing different.

It would be more believable had it been 2-3 years. But 5!?

Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
Not what we need at all right now. We're going to end up with a very old squad as well if we're not careful.

Well we had the third oldest squad on average last season and with West Brom(1st) going down and Brighton (2nd) signing young players I expect we will rank first this time.fidelcastro wrote:Yeah, because our squad is ancient!

I'm not giving my opinion on it, just stating that we probably have the oldest squad.Burnley1989 wrote:And it proved to be a disaster
Re: Burnley offer Watford's Troy Deeney, 30, five-year deal
After that performance you can see why we wanted Deeney, better than anything we have upfront. A hybrid of all our 3 fit strikers. Excellent cross for the first goal, some great pass and move and a very good finish for his goal.
