Unless Heatons injury is worse than the club is letting on, why the he'll do we need another keeper? Who'll be on big money as well.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Pope will be ready for january, heaton for september so it all makes sense;
Pope will play in the FA Cup
Heaton in the League Cup
Lindegaard in the UEFA Cup
Hart in the League
Leggins in the reserves.

I am not Harts biggest fan but our goalkeeping coaches have improved two players so much in recent years they represented their country. He may well find his form with us

En route to Turf Moor for a medical apparently: https://www.mcfcwatch.com/2018/08/03/jo ... ster-city/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I smell BS. He wouldn't need to leave Manchester to have his medical.

£4m for someone to compete with Lindegaard for third choice? I doubt it.

OK - ignoring the fact that I think the link is pure BS - if it were to be true I would be happy with this providing he doesn't want stupid money... and more importantly - the club shop DOES NOT stock Head and Shoulders
Again - if true, does beg the question regarding Heaton's future...???

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Heaton or probably Pope is going if this is true.
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
On loan till Christmas, I can believe. £4m permanent transfer makes no sense either for Burnley or for Hart. Why would a man who wants first team football move to a club with 2 England goalkeepers?
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Would be even more baffling than the signing of Nahki Wells if true.
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
If anyone can get Joe Hart to be back to where he was - its our outstanding goalkeeping coach.

What about Legzdins? What is the point of him if he is going to be shifted down the pecking order all the time? How will he feel? How will the youth keepers feel having 5 senior keepers in front of them?

Not a fan if true.
Poor goalkeeper full of mistakes and has a bad attitude. Likely to be on high wages.
We already have 2 excellent keepers and 1/2 perfectly capable stand-ins while they're injured.
Really hope this isn't true, would rather use the 4mil on JRod.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
It does make sense in a way. Not for one second did I EVER think we would have Heaton and Pope at our club this season. Neither of them would have sat on the bench. I suspect this will see Heaton on his merry way (IF there is one ounce of truth in it). Hart will have the arrogance (as all good professional footballers have) to believe that given a run of games (and what an incredible set of circumstances have led to that being the case) he can usurp any other keeper and keep the No.1 jersey for himself. Burnley and their coaching staff also should have the self-belief that they can resurrect Hart`s career and get an `England keeper` on the cheap to replace Heaton. I think it is commonly referred to as a win-win.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
If he comes and feels wanted (and that includes the fans) then I'm sure he'll be a success.
From the moment Guardiola said he didn't fancy him his form nosedived, as long as his wages aren't astronomical then it could be a shrewd move.
All hypothetical at the moment.

Not sure how I feel.
He can be awful, however it's not long ago he was expected to be England no.1 for years to come, including by Southgate.
We paid £5m for Wells.
£4m for Hart... yeah, go on then

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
With Heaton still out, and still not 100% he will fully recover, could break down again
Pope could be looking at 6-9 months and won't be rushed back.
Lindegaard ok for bench and the odd game.
Legzdins deemed 3rd choice at best
Means we need a challenge for the number 1 shirt, if not a number 1 itself.
We could play 50+ games this season.
I wouldn't be adverse to bringing in Hart/Forster on loan or perminent.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
This would surely mean Heaton is on his way, you start to wonder if he really is injured and isn't just being 'rested' to not get cup tied for Europe as well...
That is, if there is even an ounce of truth in it, of course. It seems really random and bizarre to me.
Hart has proven himself but we are talking a long time ago, he hasn't been particularly good for quite a while but you would think with our goalkeeping setup and coaching we might be able to revive the player he was?

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
While I doubt it will happen, Hart would probably excel at Burnley. He'd be made to feel wanted, receive excellent coaching from Billy Mercer and be pushed all the way by the other goalkeepers (minus one perhaps outgoing). If anything, he's got a point to prove and that fits well with the Burnley way in my opinion. Often underestimated but constantly surprising.

Why the hell is Adam Legdzins still at the club then? Doesn't seem as though he's even trusted to be 3rd choice.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Fascinating.... our Burnley laying claim to 3 of England's best goalkeepers - based on the last World Cup squad - and granting Joe Hart 5th spot.
My thoughts: Hart will not be paid "outside the framework" - City will be making up whatever Hart will be missing from his remaining 1 year (I think) City contract - maybe even Joe will be putting something in/taking a cut.
Chance for Joe Hart to rebuild his career.... just as Tom Heaton and Nick Pope have been at Burnley to build their goalkeeping standing.
I wouldn't have expected Tom Heaton to be moving on - and, I don't think he'd have had 4th place if Southgate's thinking if he wasn't over the shoulder injury. What is keeping Tom in the "treatment room" now? Is it another "our for some time" injury?
Nick Pope started at Aberdeen - so, we weren't bothered about cup tying Nick.
We watch and wait and see what happens.

Top keeper who just needs to get back in form. I’d say that Heaton is probably off if Hart comes.

Why was it made up? My initial reaction was it was serious, which it then proved to be. We wont see him again this year, if not all season.Stan Tastic wrote:Yeah, but you also thought it was a good idea to post a story you'd made up about Pope being out for the season within hours of his injury, so I'm not sure your judgement stands up to scrutiny.
I was correct.
Post got taken down, but all i asked was a question to the forum. Pope out for the rest of the season?
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
I'm not sure about that. I think there's something up with Tom unfortunately. He's clearly struggling to get back to full fitness and I wouldn't be at all surprised if his current calf strain is a smokescreen for something else. I can't see any other reason for us signing someone like Hart.Pearcey wrote:Top keeper who just needs to get back in form. I’d say that Heaton is probably off if Hart comes.
From Hart's point of view he must be taking a huge pay cut to join us so I like that immediately. He wants to play, he'll be at a club where he will be made welcome and part of a group. At 31 he's potentially got his best years to come. This could end up being the signing of the summer!
