Joe Hart incoming ?
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Heaton off. He's gotta be. No way we have 3 England international keepers.
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Brought in as 3rd choice on cheap wages purely to have 3 GK.jrgbfc wrote:Why the hell is Adam Legdzins still at the club then? Doesn't seem as though he's even trusted to be 3rd choice.
As soon as Heaton got injured we got in Lindegaard, Legzdins isn't trusted to be on the bench.
Same has happened again, he isn't trusted to be a number 2 here, hense the reason we are looking at another GK.
Have you seen Legzdins career to date?
Soon to be 32
14 clubs in his career
Played 100 games in the last decade
Only 1 season in the last 8 has he been a number 1, and that was in 2010 playing for Burton Albion.
He's just not good enough, not his fault but on the sum of about 1-2k a week, he's the insurance and last port of call should a freak set of injuries should happen mid season.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
I'd be very sad if Heaton is to leave (or if he's simply not able to get back to full fitness/previous form). Thought he'd be with us for a good while to come yet (this is of course just speculation though).
Another plus side to signing Hart is that he'll already know Pope and Heaton pretty well from the England setup.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Just gone 31years we know he has had it in him seems very sensible given the present chaos with our keepers. Pope cannot be in the 25 until January so we need three and have doubts about Heaton with Lindegaard OOC in 2019. So given we do not want to have Legzdins in the squad this makes perfect sense to me. No one should be leaving IMO. Squad keepers Lindegaard Heaton and Hart. Come January maybe but only maybe Hart Pope and Heaton; come summer Lindegaard off or here for another year and one of Pope or Heaton sold for hopefully mega bucks with Hart again hopefully back to his best. GK trio 2019-20 Heaton/Pope Hart and a young keeper

With potentially 50+ games which they can easily share out with the Thursday/Sunday games, and who's to say Heaton isn't side lined for the next month or so.
All I know is Hart isn't coming to sit on the bench.

I'm more than happy with this as Billy Mercer will turn Hart into a world class keeper just like he's done with Pope n Heaton! Utc..

He doesn't need to be happy with the bench, he needs to accept he's out injured at the present and we need a number 1 goal keeper capable of playing in the premier and Europa leagues.
We don't have 1 of those currently at the club fit to play, so we have rectified that.
Well done the club I say.
We'd be up in arms should Heaton break down on the 10th of August and that left us with 2 fit keepers, with them keepers being Lindegaard and Legzdins.
It's an unneeded massive risk that we've just eradicated, for an excellent fee IMO

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Just quoting myself on here so I can roll it back and say that I am actually quite pleased if this comes off. I have slagged Hart off in the past, but that was due to his form and attitude in regards to England - I'm sure with us he'll be a world beater again - if/when he arrives he'll have my full support as all our players do.Rick_Muller wrote:has someone opened the bullsh!t tap...? thats 2 in as many minutes on here

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
If this is true, my guess would be that Heaton was told at back end of last season that Pope was number one, that a deal to sell heaton has already been arranged, and we've just been waiting for a suitable replacement. That would be just a guess, though.

Reckon Heaton is out in January. Hart wouldn't take a paycut if he wasn't sure he was getting gametime.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
sigh.......
Hope it's true
Hope we see the 'old' Hart who was a top keeper.
Hope that heaton recovers in next few weeks
Hope that we have Hart/Heaton playing for the shirt. Better than the options we have at the moment.
Nothing in this says Heaton is going anywhere...

If Pope and Heaton are out until Christmas then it makes sense spending 4 million on a good keeper. Our survival in the Premier League is worth way more than that.

I reckon he'd do well to train with Billy Mercer, in fact he should pay for the priviledge
I can envisage him putting his career back on track with us.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
January, or maybe June next year, we have 3 great keepers, Tom, Nick and Joe. Maybe we sell Joe Hart, bank the profit on some great career rebuilding and Joe gets the return on his investment (i.e. pay cut). Meanwhile Burnley prepare for a European Championship campaign - having won the Europa Cup, plus bettered 7th place last season.KefkaClaret wrote:Reckon Heaton is out in January. Who knows? Who was expecting our first completed incoming transfer in this window was Joe Hart?

I'd take him. With Billy Mercer he would become great again.Vegas Claret wrote:from the Sun
Joe Hart is reportedly set to sign for Burnley in a £4million move.
The former England No.1 has been frozen out at Manchester City having spent last season on loan at West Ham.
And Burnley are in desperate for a new keeper after Tom Heaton and Nick Pope picked up injuries.
According to The Sun, Hart is undergoing his medical at Turf Moor.
Surely we couldn't afford his wages?

Heaton and Pope have both worked with Hart on England duty so Burnley will be able to rely on more than tales coming out of the Etihad for character references.

No one leaves (yet) of our 25 to Jan 2019 Heaton Hart and Lindegaard, post Jan 2019 Heaton Pope and Hart. Lidegaard OOC 2019 and may leave or could stay as number 3 to Hart, Pope or Heaton (one of whom will IMO leave for a few million)

Great test of how far we have come this....
If Burnley fans whine at signing (at least) a formerly world class keeper with tons of England caps who should now be in his prime, and who Dyche and Mercer could transform back to what he was, we have truly arrived in the big time.

Our first / second (delete as appropriate) choice keeper is out for months. To get someone with such experience and quality is surely a positive. OK so he’s made some well documented errors but you don’t win league titles and so many England caps without being a bloody good player.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
A good signing on the face of it. At his best he's an excellent keeper and I'd trust our coaching team to get the best out of him.
The concern is what this means for Heaton and, to a lesser extent Pope. I can't imagine Hart will be coming to sit on the bench so either Heaton's minor calf strain isn't so minor after all or he's on his way out.
