I believe in Joe Hart and Joe Hart will go on and on.

Maybe two and two but that's what I'm thinking.
Whilst I won't give you a like, that's it in a nutshell.
These calf strains are just transfers in process. Defour off to China also applies.

I have never been a Hart fan, so far from enamoured at this news. He is currently having a medical and Pep G is out celebrating.

Pope and Heaton are injured, they’re unlikely to be going anywhere this window.

I think this is a great bit of business. Hart has the instinctual reflexes that don't leave you , confidence is the only thing for him at the moment. We as a club will rekindle this without a doubt.

I was saying before the World Cup squad was announced that Joe Hart was still a very good goalkeeper and I could completely understand if Southgate picked him as one of his three. Earlier on in his Manchester City and England career he was truly exceptional.

This would be a fantastic signing.

He’s had a better career than any English ‘keeper in the last thirty years and I can’t see that being bettered anytime soon.

And he’s still only 31...

Assuming he signs for us we will have 3 England International goalkeepers in our squad

Surely no other club has ever had that before

What we need is players with something to prove and hungry. This may be younger ones who are taking a step up or someone whose career has gone a bit off track and needs to get back on it.

If we do sign him then I hope he leaves his billy big b0llocks attitude at Man City.

Surely Dyche would be able to sort that out though.

After one half decent game for us no doubt all the people who were shagging him off before the World Cup will be shouting that he's England's best keeper, should be England's number one etc etc.

4m for our 3rd England goalkeeper. Apparently excellent in the dressing room.

Wonder if any team in history has ever had 3 England international goalkeepers in their squad.... Tony one for you to answer I reckon :)

Is the £4m fee related to the giant pay cut he'll be taking?
City clearly don't need £4m, so is it not so much a transfer fee as opposed to sharing the wage? I would imagine he'd be on 100k per week at city, so even if he's on (well top end) 50k at Burnley that £4m over three years adds 25k per week to his wage.

£120k at City according to reports but there's a possibility that City will pay a chunk of that to encourage him to leave.

A number of clubs have done that over the years after overpaying someone.

Leeds are probably one of the first I remember doing it when they had Risdale financially wrecking the place.

No way we’re paying him 60k a week. Maybe because we’re apparently only paying City £4m he’s getting a sizeable signing on fee.

This is a very shrewd bit of business by BFC. Buy him now for £4 million, get his confidence up and back to his best, then in a years time he will want a huge pay rise so we can sell him back to a top team for £20 million.

Hi Caton, how does that work? We don't want to pay a player £XX,000 per week, so we pay him less, but make up the difference with a big signing on fee? Clubs that do that "must be made of money." Why would Burnley push up our costs by paying out up front?

Yes, it happens when a player is "in demand" - put how many were competing for Hart's signature?

I suspect £60,000 per week isn't a bad shout for Burnley's "maximum wage."

Wages in the 2016/17 season £61 million. Let's take £10 off for all employees, including SD outside the 1st team squad.

For simplicity: lets assume 24 players in squad, and on average, the squad can be split into "entry level" "mid-level" and "star players" (I know it's not really that simple...

Let's set "stars" at £60,000 per week = £3 million (for simplicity) per season x 8 players - £24 million.

Mid-level: £40,000 per week = £2 million x 8 players = £16 million.

Entry level: £20,000 per week = £1 million x 8 = £8 million.

That gives us £48 million - then add in employer's national insurance @13.8%. We aren't too far away.

And, don't forget that £61 million wages was for 2016/17 - and wages have increased in 2017/18 season. My guess is we will learn of £80 million wages when the 2017/18 accounts are released in (late) March 2019.

I'm not saying my calculations are correct, but £60,000 per week for Joe Hart is easily within the framework for 2018/19.

I just hope there's enough in the kitty to get Ben Mee signed up for a few more seasons.
